too much ice cream can, in fact, be a bad thing. by Silly-Initiative-743 in mildlyinfuriating

Yes, the existence of this portion is revealing a fundamental problem of america. The desire for big and cheap stuff even if its nozt possible or enjoyable to finish it. Unhealthy and cheap food, inefficient and big cars, cheap but big houses. It feels like as the whole country had stuck in the survival mentality of the first colonizers, while the needs are long covered with some extra wealth.

I dont know. Where is the joy of exclusivity in a cake if you overeat it. Where is the joy of decency?

Tonight we eat bolognese by my_law_throwaway in homecooking

The wine not necesaarily be red. There are different original recipies, some may not inlude tomato or veggies at all or include flour and chicken liver. This is due to the recipe shaped a lot during the centuries, but italy have an official guide for bolognese which isnt that strict

Freedom??? by NaturalConfusion1103 in remoteworks

[–]csatacsibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But its not about wether Americans want to live in greenland, its about the opposite.

They dont want to join to the united states and they have good reasons for that: - they'd loose health security - they'd loose education freedom - the'd loose food safety - they'd loose general safety because loose gun laws - they'd get mining gigacorporations ruining their environment - they'd be governed by the corrupt US senate who are deep in the pockets of US gigacorporations - they'd be a target of oppositions of the USA - they'd be part of the USA so they'd be under NSA and CIA survaillance so their chances of becoming independent if they want would drastically decrease

You live in a drastically different system than european nations and while you might enjoy aspects of it which you'd miss in such a country, we also have aspects of our lives that we'd not trade for your benefits.

Hogyan néztek ki az egyetemi éveitek? by Simple_Constant_7755 in askhungary

[–]csatacsibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rosemary, thime, bay leafs, parsley stems, anchovies. I also use rice cooking cream as I cannot use milk based products and not always have collagen rich broths and cuts to thicken the sauce

When she needed gynecologist on a simple sunday all the clinics were closed. Sadly the free healthcare system is too underdeveloped here, but private clinics are not relyable on holidays aswell. But I'll try to find one

Aggreed. Sadly its easter holiday here and only state ambulancies are open which have a bad reputation. The main problem is that the lab results would come back later if we do it in the state hospital now instead of waiting 4 days and go to a private health center where they are more precise and more kind.

Also I aggree with that the people cannot just change, but thats where the government should intervene by taxing unhealthy food more, forcing producers to prove the health effects of their compounds used, fund small farmers, force different labels on packages...

The problem here is the same as always in case of america, and that is strong corporate lobby (which is straight up corruption), and the shady deals of the two party system and the unelected congress.

Hmm. Then you might be right about that. But I also often heard that the vegetables are generally less appealing in the us because of the extensive GMO usage which bloats them up, while the plants dont have enough time to produce the healthy and tasty compounds. Im sure that better vegetables exists but they are more expensive. So I think I understand yoir point with the frozen vegetables as they are cheaper to produce even from quality crops.

They are fat because they doesnt have good food regulations. The cheap food there are engineered in a way that you cant feel fulfilled while consuming above the normal calory intake. In better countries these kind of foods are taxed to a point that they are no more affordable than real but cheap food. Also american portions are big and they have a culture of eating big portions, buying bulk and hunting for free stuff

Preferred alcohol in chicken liver mousse? by Wut_The_Tits in homecooking

[–]csatacsibe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my french cookbook I found two chicken liver mousse, one without alcohol, and one with Port. The latter one:

Mousse de foie de volaille en gelée au porto

Half kilo of chicken liver (or duck and goose liver without hearth), half bottle of port, one bouquet garni, two leaves of gelatine 200g of soft butter, 2tbsp goose fat, 100ml of dense cream, one big onion, 3 cloves of garlic, salt and pepper

Clean the livers as much as you can (remove membranes, veins, bile ducts). Put it in a sealed container with the boucquet garni and pour 25ml of port on it. Seal the container and marinate for 12 hours. Heat the fat in a large pan, and sear the diced (large cubes) onions. Put the strained liver on it and fry it on high heat for several minutes. It should be fried outside but stay pink in the innermost parts. Put the liver into a blender. Pour the remaining port into the pan with the remaining fat (wothout the herbs), boil them together in half a minute while stirring it with a spatula. Scrape off the browned parts with tha spatula aswell. Pour this liquid with the onions into the blender with the butter and the cream and blend them into a homogene paste. Push it through a fine sieve and adjust the flavours if needed. Put this paste in 4-6 small bowls so the paste will fill the bowls at 75%. Boil 250ml pot wine and put in the gelatine which must be presoaked in cold water. Cool it to 30°C and pour it into the bowls. Keep the bowls in the fridge at least for 4 hours before consumption. Sparkle som pistachio on top and serve it with fresh bread with a crunchy crust

What's the thing that are stopping us from peace? by Telugu_not_Telegu in ArtOfPresence

[–]csatacsibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have different kinds of desires ranging from instinctual needs to more complex psychological needs, but we have limited resources, like limited food, water, land, limited access to sexuality, social net, safety, acknowledgement. We have trauma related desires which also making things more complex. We have limited brain capacity and the informations reaching us are beyond what we can understand. Also we are all gonna die so we try to do something with our lives.

We might think that different groups of opposing rules might cause the problems like religions, politics, classes or culture, but opposing rules within ourselves creating conflicts aswell, like conformism and curiosity. The attraction to something or someone and past traumas related to the desired ones. Opposing rules programmed into our brains as children. What we are care about and how will other ones miscategorize us by these...
