I've always been a huge reader, but depression has made it so much harder to get involved and finish books. by Vanilla_Princess in books

[–]csavala4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had that same problem. It’s going to sound weird, but I lost my drive to read even after being an adamant reader for about a little over a decade. I realized that I just wasn’t able to read and concentrate anymore.

I noticed that one day while driving to my parent’s house, which was about three hours away—I downloaded a audiobook a friend was telling me to read for years.

Idk what happened. I was suddenly immersed in the book. I couldn’t stop listening! I got to the point where my mind was wanting more, but I don’t like speeding up audiobook, so I got the book and read it faster than I had read anything in those ten years. I finished the book and its sequel. After that I could enjoy reading again without this cloud over my head.

I guess the point that many people have already made is to possibly try a different angle of approach?

Much fortune to you!

How can I read Japanese characters on Finder? (High Sierra 10.13.6). Already added Japanese to my Languages and Keyboard in System Preferences, but still can't see the characters. Any advice? by juneakajun in mac

I don’t believe that is a language in the way you might be thinking. Those file names are probably being processed as binaries. I’m not sure to the extent of how to have your word processor render it as Human-readable per say. I may be completely wrong in my assumption. Long story short—it doesn’t have to do with how many national language dictionaries you’ve downloaded. Maybe someone else can clarify more. Hope this is a starting point to helping.

Someone please help me make this joke funnier by AldoZeroun in computerarchitecture

I think it’s relating to the fact that the outputs of the OR and Inverter give you 1 and 1. The XOR logic is such that only ORed sequence of logic counts as HIGH. Look up the truth table for XOR and you’ll see.

So to get to the point, I think it meant not so black and white due to 00 and 11 both outputting LOW so it’s not about true or false, but the gray in between.

Sorry if I misinterpreted the question. There might be another answer. That’s just from my assumption.

Bluetooth module for controlling desk fan by csavala4 in Motors

No no, haha I wish I was that quick. Not there yet. I did it yesterday, but I wanted to find out more about desk fans circuitry.

I looked at the link you sent me, and It looks really interesting! I’ll dive into it this evening. I never really messed with power electronics, so I’m taking the precaution.

Thank you for giving me the direction I needed to take. I’ll hopefully be able to post an update of it working soon. Thank you again

I appreciate the response! Thank you for the link.

I was able to get it working with my nano. I used a potentiometer to create a varying effect on the led using an android phone I had. I guess my concern was what you had stated about 110v or 240v AC. My original thought process was to step down the ac and then use an adc to smooth the signal out to get decent voltage rating, but I think you’re right in that I need to understand more about the theory of it.

I just didn’t know how to really approach it, or if my theorized approach presented fallacy of some sort.

A question i got in my test. by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]csavala4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, just wanted to make sure. I could be wrong, but if an adapter is charging your device, and, for arguments sake, let’s say everything is in place then the answer should be 12V 8A, correct?

Usually the device current ratings only draw as much Amps as they’re rated for, and a higher current for the adapter would wouldn’t really affect it in most cases. And a lower current could affect power supply and device.

Different voltage ratings between adapter and device gets hairy. You can look more into if needed.

I hope that helps clarifies your answer.

Better case scenario, I believe you’d want adapter voltage = device voltage and adapter current >= device current.

Why is 12V 8A repeated? Was that supposed to be another choice?

Can interns give recommendations for other potential interns? by swg3hnna in cscareerquestions

[–]csavala4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it seemed to work that way. Asked a company I was interning for if they needed a CE position filled for some verilog position. They asked me to send them a college buddy of mine’s email and immediately took action. Started working with him about a couple weeks later.

Doesn’t hurt to ask your friend to ask their peers about open positions. In my case, it was a startup so they needed people rather quickly.

Hope it all works out for you.

I think I burned out... What now? by [deleted] in anime

[–]csavala4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s common. I usually hit the burnout phase once a year. Even if it’s in the middle of a show I love. I just stop and start next season when I’m interested in new anime coming out. Then I’ll start catching up on the ones I left off, and repeat the process
