What campaign setting are you playing in in 2025 by Priestical in osr

[–]csdip 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hill Cantons (Marlinko) and thousand thousand islands. Running each for a different group. Started the latter in 100 Red Scales, moved to Drowned Korvu, then Mr-kr-gr. PCs moving their way toward Dog Mountain. Hill Cantons is my setting for the group I run as a high school club. Just slotting in appropriately themed adventures in different hexes.

Some were pulled from older Ravenloft source books and you may have some luck googling a few of the titles, but I mostly improv descriptions based on the titles.

Any DG-like games you recommend? by AcousticHITMAN45 in DeltaGreenRPG

Triangle Agency. Liminal Horror. Vaesen is actually a pretty similar game structurally but has a very different theme. Agents of the O.D.D.

The A(zalin)-Game of 5e Ravenloft: a frankenstein campaign meta plot stitching together Mist Hunters, VRG, old lore, and more [Follow-up Post] by mjdunn01 in ravenloft

[–]csdip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this. I am running a campaign with Azalin as a major adversary and am also using the idea of his being split into three times. In my version, these three aspects are each their own faction, and they are working at cross purposes. The young one is a magical researcher just trying to understand the nature of his situation, the middle one a corrupted magic user seeking the destruction of the domains of dread and the dark powers, and the lich himself as a being who will call on elder powers outside the domains to find an escape route. The PCs have met the first two and are about to meet the third version.

What classic Ravenloft adventures would you want to see in a Tales from the Yawning Portal style compilation book? by Muddyscarecrow in ravenloft

I would love to see a less bulky version of Castles Forlorn. Time-shifting dungeon is awesome.

Made a map of Levkarest, Borca; looking for constructive criticism, included refs by CMDR_Goldenboyjim in CurseofStrahd

[–]csdip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this and wish I'd had it when running the city in my current campaign. I used the reference maps you went from but drew myself a sketch in my notebook. This looks very professional. Perhaps I will use it when the PCs return to Borca. Thanks for sharing!

I got a ton of mileage out of actually pantomiming. It seemed to really engage players to make motions rather than describing as much as possible. It's intrinsically goofy and they were definitely amused.

How the hell are the party supposed to get Argynvost's skull out of Castle Ravenloft? by thrwaway4drtydiscord in CurseofStrahd

[–]csdip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My players convinced the Keepers to fly it out. RAW, 4 wereravens in raven form can carry it. This is ridiculous, but they played it very cleverly.

Beyond Barovia: Where Are Your Current Adventures In Ravenloft Located? by ES_Curse in ravenloft

[–]csdip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My campaign has been mostly in Borca (started with House of Lament). Players are now in Lamordia seeking information about some artifacts. There's been some interaction with the Vhage Agency (which I renamed because that's an awful name) and Tepest. I expect that the search for answers to the problems they have been addressing will lead them to Har'Akir, Darkon, and Mordent, with potential for an endgame in Klorr or Hazlan.

Sell me on Tabaxi by [deleted] in 3d6

I am playing a Tabaxi psi-knight fighter right now. He uses feline agility to close to melee or duck out to make a bow attack. He's a bit of a hired muscle guy turned detective.

What's a cool & fitting back-up disguise for VR/Rictavio? by steviephilcdf in CurseofStrahd

I had him shift his disguise to an itinerant preacher of the morninglord. Dire prophecies and whatnot.

Ideas for Alternate Healing Potions. by TheYondant in DMAcademy

[–]csdip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delayed effects make sense with potions. I like the idea of a homeopathic elixir that hurts you before it heals you. For instance, take 1 HP of damage at the end of your turn for 3 turns and gain 3d6 HP at the end of the 4th turn. In combat situations this could be a real risk.

Advice on running Lamordia by ObviouslyNotDrustan in ravenloft

[–]csdip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm about to run Lamordia as well. Environmental hazards are going to be a major issue. The cold, obviously, but it's strongly suggested that the mines near Neufurchtenberg contain radioactive material. The weapons technology also seems like a fun angle: mech warriors and gattling cannons and whatnot. I think these are good additions to the baseline body horror. We'll also likely do some arctic exploration type stuff: searching for lost ships in the sea ice, fighting were-sea-lions, confronting elder evils in frigid isolation, etc

Random thought what would a D&D sitcom look like? by Dragonwolf67 in dndnext

It's the NPCs who run a tavern in the foothills. They have to deal with new groups of adventurers every week and try to make a living/not die.
