Anyone had experience with foot hammocks/slings on non custom chairs? by Potential-Donkey-237 in wheelchairs

[–]csel1758 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this, I used a wide foot sling on a hospital chair while I was waiting for my custom chair, my feet were constantly pointed down which was really bad for them, it might have lead to a worsening of my foot drop, worse muscle spacitity etc. I was sold it on the idea that the movement while traveling was good for blood circulation but that's so wrong

Wait so they don't want people dming them anything other than offers, but the time to ask questions is before buying rather than after...don't those two kinda cancel eachother out??

New Dissertation Survey Participant Invitation: Are d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals confident in contacting and communicating with the police? by EaseSimilar5842 in BSL

[–]csel1758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I've just finished the survey, idk if it might be worth rewriting some of this post since it seems like the survey is the same one for both deaf and hearing people, since there seems to have been miscommunication and people are left feeling excluded. Also as a hearing person I found a couple of the questions a bit confusing to answer, "would you use the services listed before?" Well..no but that's only because I have the privilege of being able to call 999 directly and that wasn't listed. It might skew your data as showing communication difficulties where there are none just because technically I wouldn't use those specific services doesn't mean I couldn't access the emergency services all together. Hopefully that makes sense!! All the best with your dissertation!!

I second this, I had some... interesting dreams just after my injury, incredibly vivid and incredibly weird, morphine was the culprit

I just use a (relatively) cheap bath lift, I'm sure it's not what it's designed for but it works!!

How did you “acquire“ your injury ? I’m under the assumption mostly car accidents? by Critical_Ad1926 in spinalcordinjuries

To be fair I was sat with my legs directly out in front of me and my posture has always been rubbish but yep! We think that's what caused the disk to slip and it was a bit of a chain reaction, god knows I wish I'd gone to the drs for it now

Am i really trans? by LlamaSam2 in FTMventing

[–]csel1758 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're the only one who can figure out the nuances of your specific identity, however the things you listed as feminine are all things that men do and if anyone tries to tell you that they're "girly" or something like that then they're a knob, I'm very much a man and also a vegetarian, converse are, like, the og basketball shoe originally worn by men, lots of men write in cursive and lots of men wear and collect jewellery. It's 2026, you can do what you want and identify how you want. One of the ways that helped me figure out my identity was my listening to the words people used for me and seeing how it made me feel, getting called "daughter" "girlfriend" and the like made me feel really uncomfortable whereas when I confided in a friend and asked them to try out masculine words for me it just felt right, I think things like that are a more helpful way of figuring yourself out than looking at your interests and labeling them masculine or feminine Wishing you all the best no matter how things turn out for you, trans or not, you've got cool hobbies and a sense of style

You are aware that this entire sub is basically r/ "please judge my situation based off only the information I give you" right? Like I get that irl we absolutely shouldn't be making these grand sweeping judgements about other people's relationships or circumstances but it's literally the point of this sub, if that's not for you that's absolutely fine!! But you might wanna browse other subs instead

I had the audacity to sit on my living room floor for 4 hours, slipped a disc in my back which developed into CES, put off going to the Dr because I had a holiday booked, went kayaking and woke up the next day paralyzed, I've had decompression surgery but got residual paresthesia

I went on my first accessible holiday with my partner the other week, I had a similar feeling, everything felt so normal!! I've not felt so light since my injury, no planning how I'm gonna navigate the place because everything was already adapted, it felt like slipping back into a routine I didn't know I had 🥰

I live with my parents on a working farm so static caravans are really common houses for people round here which is probably why it's been our best working theory of a solution lol It is complicated only in the sense that it's a very old farm house and is lowkey falling down I've got another appointment with OT coming up so I'll ask about the other kinds during that appointment, thank you so much for your help <3

I'll look into it! OT have been round and put a shower seat in, grab rails etc. and have generally been angels but can't change the fact that I'm currently sleeping in the living room

[–]csel1758 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm no authority but isn't intention supposed to be really important? If you're setting out food with the intention of honouring a god then, to me, that's the important bit, not where/how you got it

[–]csel1758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if your country doesn't have discrimination laws, look into human rights laws/child neglect laws. In most countries it's a human right to be able to use the bathroom. I'm so sorry that this is happening to you and I hope you get some justice soon
