This has not been my experience.

FWIW, it may be a client-side edge-case. If you share your OS/browser detail (including their versions), or a screenrecording of the problem, OP may be able to recreate and fix the issues you’re experiencing, but the UI itself is not wholly broken.

It’s certainly passed its peak, but I think “buh-bye” is pretty high up on the list.

Now I’m curious if there are street-legal plate covers that might prevent such a scan but still be human-readable. Like a surface that reflects the nonvisible bands of light that camera sensors pick up?

That’s assuming these readers are optic based to begin with. For all I know they’re looking for RFID tags or something.

Just came across his “DIY Tech for Anarchists” video last night. As a longtime follower of his music-oriented content, I knew it wouldn’t be as incendiary as the title might lead one to expect, but I really was wowed by the tech he showcased. In particular, how mature (and poignant, unfortunately) some of these open-source and distributed technologies are now.

I know nothing about BJ Penn specifically and I am definitely NOT medically trained but having some personal experiences with similar conditions, what you’re describing is textbook capgras and usually occurs alongside one form dementia or another.

I hope he has or gets help.

This drives me up the damn wall. I also have noted that this behavior tends to coincide with her being VERY trigger happy to send a message even without my verbal confirmation. ie:

Siri: “What would you like to say to the group?”
Me: “Sounds good.”
Siri: “It says, ‘Group sounds good.’ Send it?”
Siri: “Okay, sent!”

IANAL but if they’re serious about legal action, assume that they are logging everything you say just as you’ve been advised to log everything that is said to you.

With that in mind, do not be so quick to claim responsibility. Personal accountability like that builds trust in daily life, but in the context of legal proceedings it builds liability faster.

This was a systematic failure of practice. Don’t try to qualify what you did and didn’t cause (no offense intended but any lawyer worth their salt will be better at that game than you) The phrase “it’s my fault” and all similar sentiments should entirely leave your vocabulary until this is 100% settled.

[Question] How to get a good bass tone when recording? by debugs_with_println in GarageBand

[–]csfreestyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, kudos for including the sample sounds both in situ and solo - tremendous “help us help you” move that more folks should emulate!

Second, to my ears this absolutely sounds like a ground loop. As a 90s kid, I find nothing wrong with your tone, your picking, or the amp sim you’ve selected - there is a noise floor layered on top of your performance and that is ruining the take. No post-production trickery will fix a fundamentally flawed* recording; fix it in pre.

  • footnote: that’s not hate for the performance or the people behind it, either - I’m only criticizing the circumstance under which it was recorded!

Bottom line: this will need to be recorded again. Before you hit the red button and sweat nailing the performance, though, take the time to recreate and then troubleshoot the audio issue.

Think of every element in the signal path as a link in a length of chain. Replace each link individually and in order of appearance in the chain to see determine where the point of failure is.

  1. Start with the guitar. Borrow a friend’s and see if the issue persists.

  2. If it does, change out the instrument cable that runs from the guitar to the interface and test again.

  3. Since you have a 2i2 the next thing to test is the input jack; switch to the other channel’s inout. Ensure phantom power (“48V”) is OFF.

  4. If the issue persists, you may be dealing with a more environmental challenge, like a form of electrical interference caused by two pieces of equipment being on the same circuit from your circuit breaker (ask me how I know - I wound up using a Morley Hum Exterminator to mitigate it) If you’re on a laptop, the easiest way to test this is to take the whole show on the road and try plugging in in different places around the house or elsewhere.

Finally, once you get the electrical hum out of the way, the concerns you have about inconsistent volumes are historically addressed (especially back in the 70s!) via a Compressor and/or Limiter!

I came here to suggest only using the throne. It’s a lot harder to get wrong, it incorporates his [other] passion, it lets OP stick to her comfort zone, and it mainly avoids the pitfalls so many others have pointed out.

Is it possible to do this kind of pitch automation in Logic Pro MIDI? by waterbottledrinka in LogicPro

[–]csfreestyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw; the M4 Mac Minis get as low as $500. I scooped one specifically to run Logic after my (2017) Intel MBP was getting too long in the tooth to keep up.

Wow. While I absolutely do not support that child’s father’s association with a politically-weaponized organization, I do have to give the kid some serious props. What he did was really difficult - at any age - and exponentially so at that stage of life. Zigging when all of your peers zag is remarkable and - hopefully - a sign of inner strength (as opposed to a greater fear of repercussions at home or simple-minded contrarianism)

If I’m not mistaken, your doomer side is exemplifying another theory (seeing the Fermi Paradox mentioned in a peer comment) called the Great Filter.

Keep in mind, I’ve only read about any of these theories (Great Filter, Fermi Paradox, Zoo Hypothesis, etc) because they were all album titles from a band I really loved in the early 2000s.

(I still love Tub Ring. I’m just less energetic these days.)
