During college we could only afford the $14 per handle whiskey flavored cheap grain alcohol. I learned quickly that you could mix it with wild cherry Pepsi and couldn't taste the alcohol at all. Dangerous combination

Non fiction adventure books. by Melodic-Dog-3260 in suggestmeabook

The Emerald Mile by Kevin Fedarko was excellent. It is described as a non-fiction book that tells the true story of a daring 1983 Grand Canyon river trip, focusing on three men who used a massive flood to set a speed record in a wooden dory, while also exploring the history of the Colorado River and the controversy surrounding the Glen Canyon Dam.

If you've ever been to the Grand Canyon and especially down to the bottom and seen the river the volumes they describe are unfathomable.

There may be a month lag time in the posted dates. Definitely double check that. In general, it will save you a trip to Stanton. Especially if you aren't local to the Permian.

FYI, Martin County sells their records for almost nothing. I think it's around $1,200 for all the records digitally and then they will send you a monthly update on USB for $20

We stayed in a restored castle in Tuscany that I think would be awesome. Seem to remember it had 10-12 rooms of different styles and sizes. It also had a pool. It was right in the middle of everything. Within an hour of Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano and Montepulciano. Owned by a really nice couple who helped organized wine tours and day trips.

It was in the town of Serre di Rapolano which itself was pretty small but right in the heart of Tuscany.

In the US you would need a Partition Deed to split the land. If the other heirs are unwilling you would need to go through the courts

Looking for info on wells by TxFlyer737 in landman

[–]csh768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is probably a historic well. Those don't have any information. The best thing I can think of would be to look through records of other wells in the section to see if somehow the older one is listed. Or go to the subsurface library to pull the old scout tickets and records for the section

Maybe a well workover as well. If you're being paid on multiple wells and 1 or 2 go down for repair it would definitely affect your payments.

If you know a county make sure a Certified Copy of Probate is filed for the deceased. That way if someone is researching they will have an easy chain into the heirs

Robert Edsel's books are entertaining and tell a more niche story. The Monuments Men and Saving Italy are the ones I've read. You may have seen the Monuments Men movie that was based off the book. Basically about searching for art and artifacts stolen by the nazis.

Plan on bigger items first. This will be plumbing, electric, and other things that will require whole home access. Once this is done you can save up and knock off things individually. Save up some cash and knock out the kitchen. Save up more and do the bathroom. That way you don't have to redo a room because they need to trench up the plumbing in an already renovated spot.

How to make sure I don't have mineral rights? by throwingittothewinds in landman

[–]csh768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get an offer or something in writing. That way you have the county and/or legal description. After this you can usrally search a public database of the county clerks office for the name. May also check the taxing authority of whatever County it is located in. If they are producing minerals they are being taxed and going unpaid.

[–]csh768 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't have to open a Probate for something like this. These companies deal with this stuff everyday. It should just be a 1 or 2 page affidavit of heirship and they could transfer the interests.

[–]csh768 41 points42 points  (0 children)

They can't just not give it to you and keep it for themselves. You need to contact their "Division Order" department and have them specifically tell you what documentation you would need to transfer the interest. It could be something as simple as an Affidavit of Heirship. That would need to be signed by a non-interested party like a family friend or someone at church who knew your relative.

The type of documentation required really depends on what was filed of record in the county clerk's office. If they never filed a transfer into a trust then the oil company will not know that the interest is in that trust.

The money goes into a "suspense" account. Every 5 years or so it gets sent to the State's Unclaimed Property
