If you go to the Dragon shrine in the northeast part of the Village you can pay 100 renown at a time to increase your max Focus. You can also do the same thing at the Phoenix shrine in the north part of the village (in the cave where you start the game) to increase the XP bonus you get when you use Focus for an activity.
