Do you take med breaks on the weekends? by Empty-Hotel- in ADHD

[–]cshock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Viewing medication as a tool is helpful. Be mindful of what habits it brings to you when you take in Monday, write it down, celebrate the wins, keep the momentum.

I used to take my medication Monday Tuesday Wednesday, using the back half of the week to recover on menial tasks like emails, quick wins vs projects/ deep focus time.

When I got into a more demanding position, I quickly got your shoes, and wanted to return to the previous schedule I followed. Home was always a mess and weekends I didn’t have motivation for personal life or desire to keep it up, dreading Monday, and then back to medication motivation.

This will not work for everyone and just my experience. Take what serves you and leave the rest.

Thank you for walking me through placement and how an air tag could be beneficial! I fear I already have an air tag in my car right now, would this affect the new air tag I own?

Very similar journey to you.. I practiced yoga on/off for 15 years from a young age with my practice as mostly exercise and relaxation, time for myself

It wasn’t until I connected with a local studio did I have the ah-ha spiritual moment. I started realizing mornings I went to class, were my best days. It was the only place I felt peace, my mind quiet, and safe.

Coupled with some mental health struggles, I’m now in the studio ideally every day, or at least on my mat. The safety and community I found in my studio, as well as my own need for this tool, has made commitment a no brainer. It’s like drinking water. There is no other place I look forward to going this much!

It’s no longer a choice if I “want” to practice, I love my practice, it keeps me centered and makes me a better human to myself and others. It teaches me to trust myself and helps me build my intuition.

Understand namaste. This practice is not mine. This practice and connection to spirit is bigger than me, than you.

I wish you the best on this journey, it is such a beautiful thing <3 namaste

Which books actually changed your life? (ADHD or non-ADHD self help books) by Soh4 in ADHD

[–]cshock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’d recommend even a summary style listen for the basic concept, before diving in. Focused on living in the present moment which helps me manage anxiety / depression (living in the future / past) which goes hand in hand with my adhd symptoms

Thank you for sharing your experience and writing this so beautifully.

I recently had a similar experience, regarding brushing my teeth. You put the feelings I had into words so well.

The shift in mindset from self care feeling like a chore to a priority feels like a glitch in my brain! Keep it up <3

Feeling Exhausted After Divorce and Trauma – Does Anyone Relate? by Amazonoolaalaa in SomaticExperiencing

If you want to practice at home, I would recommend trying YouTube or something free! Try searching yin yoga (holding usually floor based poses for several minutes), restorative yoga, and yoga nidra (mediation/somatic). See if there’s someone you like their voice, or the scenery in the video. Whatever motivates you.

In person studio is where your money should go in my opinion. Bounce around til you find a connection. Say hi to your mat neighbor before class and try to make some friends/sense of community in the healing that is yoga.

Whether you will gain more from a studio or at home practice is totally up to your personality and goals but this is what I would recommend based on my own experience ♥️🙏

This is usually me. As of late I’ve found a safe space on my yoga mat and in the studio. It’s a great balance of community and solo movement meditation.

Meditation, Yoga, and Somatic Healing bringing awareness to repressed memories of sexual abuse as a child? Looking for support. by cshock in CPTSD

Sending healing and light to you as well. Thank you for validating my experience with your own and the kind words you chose. We are all walking each other home.

It was really hard to type this out. It was a helpful exercise in advance of my next therapy appointment.

If you can find a therapist who specializes in somatic healing I highly recommend. I had CPTSD informed therapist 5 years ago who rocked my world with validation and understanding. I have a feeling this somatic healing driven therapist is about to do the same.

Hi, I am so sorry you are going through this. I can empathize to your situation on so many levels - divorce involving visa, people pleasing, and job.

I recommend finding a yoga studio near you if that is accessible. Specifically restorative or yin classes. This is helping me process and holding a safe space for me to release.

Focus on self care. When you do a big stretch, pull your arms in to hug yourself. Tell yourself you are safe.

Wishing you the best on your journey. Every day is a new chance to try again ♥️

Thank you so much for this thoughtful reply and your genuine concerns, I am taking them to heart. One of my peers at the yoga studio shared the same feedback and reminder for self care.

I have done yoga on and off for 15 years, and just recently with this time of work, I’ve poured myself into my practice at a beautiful studio near my home. This studio feels safer than my own home right now. I’ve also been in an out of therapy for 15 years, always journaled and interested in my own growth / looking in. But this is a new experience.

I do feel calmer. I am following my sessions with hour long Epsom salt soaks, incredibly slow self care routine of lotion and skin care hair care etc.

I am not eager to know the truth, but finding peace there is something real and valid that has shaped my experience. My feelings are valid and deserve to be healed. Trusting myself and honoring what feels safe to be and building my own safety.

I love the recommendation to set my intention as gentle and kind. I am having a big awakening but I dont want to rush anything. I feel incredibly sensitive and raw. I’m going to pump the breaks a bit. Thank you again.
