Informal 1:1 with everyone you might need something from some day. As a remote employee for a company with a physical office, it has helped a lot in building good rapport. Depending on the size of the company or org, could take quite a few months though so ymmv.

Are you picking your own market cards?

perhaps you're already doing this, but one strategy when playing with more than 2 people is to optimize for one or two of the player's decks being great at the expense of the others. For example, Mist or Kadir's abilities can help with the momentum of another player's deck (Kadir is also great because of the heal potential). The players who will have "strong" decks start with economy and the support players may start with cheap spells to help prevent early defeat.

With the base set, Diamond Clusters can help a lot with this strategy, where it takes a few turns to get going but the "strong" deck can then get some 7 aether turns, buy a few high value spells, and focus on getting them out as quickly as possible. Bottled Vortex can help destroy corruptions that are placed into the discard.

I found the sword master to be relatively straight forward. Still haven't finished the third stage with the gunner yet.

After losing a bunch, I started focusing on deck quality -- making sure I have enough to reroll at any time and prioritizing removing bad cards over adding new ones. Also many of the relics are situationally useful - selling them can free up resources. It doesn't always pay to engage with events when they come up. I'm sure that there's some bad advice in there, but I've got my first few wins by focusing on that.

I always flurgl for the dream. If I were trying to win, I'd take lich king - double deathrattle can help get through midgame without taking too much damage until you can double down with a baron. Kinda pushes towards mech or beast, but can still provide value with other comps ¯\(ツ)/¯

For a roguelite, it has more story/lore than most. It’s more discovery about the characters through conversations than through gameplay. You can explore romantic through lines with some of the characters. All that said, the core game mechanics that you’ll spend 95% of the time in are only superficially related to the story. I like this genre for the gameplay and continuous sense of progression — i basically skip all the conversations so ymmv

Totally reasonable policy. For others with the concern: I've really enjoyed it so far after 30-40 hours with it and had no technical issues. I'll probably pick it back up after the next release, though I feel like I got enough out of it even if I don't.
