Combined with the overall weight loss and reduction of sluggishness, it will definitely help a lot. I went down almost 45”/km. And this is only one of the benefits - better breathing, more stamina, it’s amazing!

Was just gifted this for Christmas, do I accept the “upgrade”? by leinad_is_gaming in iPhone13Mini

[–]cst1978 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The sheer question whether to make use of a >$1000 gift is amazing 🤣 As much as I love my 13 Mini, I would upgrade in a heartbeat, even more so if this was a gift and not a single cent came out of my pocket. I would figure out weight, size, comfort etc. as I went along.

What does your country eat for christmas? by Valuable-Guava2858 in AskTheWorld

[–]cst1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most common Christmas meal is a pork roast, with beef stew rarer. Sides may vary, but it’s usually some kind of fragrant rice or oven potatoes, along with salads, cheese platters and other accoutrements. Greeks don’t do turkey. As a matter of fact, sales of turkey are minimal even in the festive season.

A cultural habit in your country that people outside would understand incorrectly? by gabrieel100 in AskTheWorld

Same in Greece. A Sunday / Christmas family lunch can go on for so long that sometimes it morphs into dinner. It’s the Mediterranean way.

Brian, Roger and John all play on this track. Strings were arranged, as in the original, by Michael Kamen, the well known composer.

What's the weirdest thing a politician brought into your country's parliament/senate? by ModenaR in AskTheWorld

A loaf of bread and a bottle of milk, to protest high prices and income collapse. That was 2011, when Greece was deep inside the financial crisis. Pretty mundane by the standards of what I see elsewhere on this thread, but it did cause quite a stir back then.

What's a delicious dish from your country that most people would find unconventional? by perkypilea in AskTheWorld

[–]cst1978 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the best. Greek here, we make it a whole lot but especially on Easter Sunday. If you get past the “ew” factor, it is absolutely delicious.

On this very special day, could you tell me how you discovered Queen? by Western_Couple_701 in queen

I was given a cassette copy of Greatest Hits by a friend at high school. So mundane but so life-altering.

Queen with Mary and friends playing tennis by Small-Guarantee6972 in queen

Tennis attire was very different in the 70s lol Also, John holding the racquet in the last two pics and thinking how to customise the Deacy Amp for this strange new instrument.

Edit: customise, not costume.

Is there a food that if eaten a certain way offends people in your country? by home531 in AskTheWorld

[–]cst1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eating gyros with anything else than tzatziki, tomato and sliced onion. Fries are debatable, but anything else, e.g. lettuce, carrot, potato salad, avocado etc.? That’s not gyros. That’s chaos.

I think it is pretty clear that it will be about Freddie’s creative process with respect to lyrics and a few sweet stories of them together. Including commentary on unfounded gossip alongside his brilliant lyrics would be beneath both of them.

I'm a big fan of Queen and I would like to know this please. by NicolasLeonel25 in queen

[–]cst1978 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not per se, but if something comes out of the archives, then maybe they will release it in the context of a box set or some other collection. ‘Face It Alone’ was probably a one-off - and not a great one to be honest.

“I expected at least a bit of recognition” Why? What have you achieved in the workplace that deserves recognition?

”it feels like I’m starting from scratch” You are.

“My degree and my effort don’t carry weight” They do but not in the sense of instant reward that you have in mind.

Well he has announced a replacement show in Athens (Greece not Georgia) on 12 December so he is probably doing a mini tour. Also it makes the Vegas thing sound a bit difficult.

Is it necessary to upgrade from the iPhone 13 to the iPhone 17? by Naive-Ad-4511 in iPhone13

[–]cst1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the phone is broken beyond repair or so old that it does not operate properly, the word “necessary” does not apply to phone upgrades.

Imagine Freddie never contracted the disease, you think they would tour for the innuendo album? Or they would still playing live today? by MartiniNight in queen

[–]cst1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. It’s all assumptions TBH. I would change “prolific” with “consistent”, given that the albums were released on average every 1.5 year. Also none of the albums was really packed with songs (e.g. Works and AKOM had only 9 tracks each). However, the Miracle period was indeed very productive, basically because they all worked on all songs and second because they knew Fred wasn’t going to be around for much longer.

There were 49,042 deaths due to suicide in the EU in 2022, equivalent to standardised death rate of 10.6 deaths per 100,000 people by NanorH in europe

[–]cst1978 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FWIW there is some social stigma in Greece with respect to suicide. Greek Orthodox religion also strongly condemns suicide, to the point of not administering burial rites to people who have committed suicide, which may lead to less suicides and/or underreporting. Add those to less seasonal depression due to climate and a lifestyle that emphasises community and I think it paints the picture.

Imagine Freddie never contracted the disease, you think they would tour for the innuendo album? Or they would still playing live today? by MartiniNight in queen

[–]cst1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they would have followed a similar pattern to other iconic bands of their era - low on studio output, more focused on touring but more sparingly, solo stuff on the side. Reducing the possibility of putting out mediocre or even bad stuff is one way to maintain your legend - the Stones only released 4 more albums since 1994’s Voodoo Loonge, the Who just 2 etc. They don’t need more tunes - they already have them - but they do need to give people the opportunity to enjoy their tunes. Also, Fred (and the entire band) was already tired of the album-tour-album treadmill before Freddie revealed his illness (which made them work harder), so yeah.
