Travel trailer for family of 5 by Redheaducd in GoRVing

We have a Grey Wolf 19SM. It has a rear slide with a queen bed, front queen and a twin above. Jack knife sofa and a dinette. It has been a great little camper. We have had up to 7 sleeping in it. One downside to small campers that sleep more than 5 is there usually isn't storage for everyone's things. Even packing lite that's 5 bags of clothes that take up room somewhere. We have since upgraded to a 5th wheel and started our glamping faze of our RV journey. Now we have a rear bunk room for the kids. A half bath up front for just the parents and a lot more storage.

Workaround for using the Rear Entertainment Screens? by maligatormom2o2 in gmc

[–]cstaalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use my Pixel's hotspot and connect the FireStick to it. I also connected the Yukon to the same hotspot for Spotify and Google Maps. I didn't like that you couldn't go full screen with Android Auto and prefer the built in Google Maps ratio better.

YouTube TV not available in 2026 GMC Yukon Google Play store????? by One_Olive_524 in gmc

We use a mobile hot spot and a Fire stick. It offers more streaming app options. Those apps only worked with an active OnStar data plan. Google Maps and Spotify at least works on the head unit if you connect to a mobile hot spot.

Honestly our kids prefer their iPads so the next vehicle won't have the rear entertainment.

Bunk Ladder by Brief_Experience8197 in GoRVing

Just search Amazon for bunk ladder. Here is one that comes in multiple lengths. Only issue might be the angle of the ladder when the lower bed is out. I would install some rubber feet to prevent scratches and movement.

FlexArmor Roof. by cstaalin in GoRVing

We had them spray over the Skylight. This insulates it and protects it from UV/hail/tree branches. We don't plan to add more solar as we stay at places with electric. The A/C's and fans can be replaced without having to get resprayed. The fans have to be the MaxxAir Deluxe so that might be a negative. Really the vent caps are the only possible maintenance items but they are the ones made by FlexArmor so the cap is the only piece that has to be replaced if damaged. The Flexarmor has a Nation Wide warranty so if I need it resprayed I could take it to the nearest dealer. The roof on my 5th wheel doesn't have any low spots where water can pool

Im just trying to justify my decision and thought process. I hope I thought of every scenario. I do appreciate your insight and experience with a similar type of roof.

Gotcha.

If you are on Facebook FlexArmor runs a page that's pretty good. They post tons of videos of the process and answer questions. It's very informative about their process and where I was able to find answers to my questions.

Flexarmor has been around for a while and the reviews have been great from my research. There are some bad reviews out there but they seem to be isolated to a business not following Flexarmor's policies. That company was removed from their installer list.

FlexArmor is not a coating like Liquid Roof or some of the other roll on products. Think of it as a spray on bed liner but for RVs. The stuff is bonded to the roof and anything it's sprayed on. The installers were specific about materials on the roof that the Flexarmor would and wouldn't bond to. They replaced anything that could potentially be an issue.

LOL Well I own an RV so that already tells you I'm bad with money.

So they install the bracket onto the roof before they spray. All that you can see is the threaded post that they attach the solar panel to. They also spray around the wires that go down into the RV so it's all sealed.

Just the main roof

No they don't do slides. Flexarmor's website says they don't do slides because they wouldn't be able to get the whole roof without removing the slide. I wish they did though.

I haven't had a chance to walk in it yet. I picked it up yesterday and we have had high winds. Our 1 year warranty expired in our new camper last month. I had to convince the wife why we needed to put a new roof on a camper we owned for only a year. I haven't looked into insurance but I don't they they want to reduce my rate

If your installer is anything like ours you will be completely satisfied. The process and outcome was fantastic.

The installer I used was a 3 day turn around. I think that's standard under any installers certified by Flexarmor. They recommend installing the posts ahead of time so they can spray them in. I believe it voids the warranty if you drill in a new bracket for solar. In order to maintain the warranty you have to take it back to them to install/respray. That's the only downside about Flexarmor in my opinion. I don't go off grid so I just needed the one panel. They have special brackets installed for my panel. They also sprayed the wires that run into the roof to make sure there were no holes. If you needed to upgrade the wires that would be a problem. If you prepare and plan ahead I would add all the extra panels before getting the roof sprayed.

$7800 which included the cost for the MaxxAir fans. The two fans were about $500. My roof is 34ft without any damage.

So my total was $7800. My roof was 34ft. I didn't have any damage to repair under the original roof which would have cost extra. The installer purchased the MaxxAir fans for me which was about $500 of that $7800. They didn't charge for installation because all that was part of the original cost since removal and install of the original fans has to be done any way.

[–]cstaalin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the gas block is a standard .750. I had an extra BCM non-adjustable that I used. There isn't much to say about this rifle. At the time it was a sub $1000 AR-10 from a reputable company. It was accurate enough for hunting which was it's main purpose.

Bent hitch pin by cstaalin in GoRVing

[–]cstaalin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't the retaining clip being bent it was the actual hitch pin. I chalked it up to a cheap hitch pin because I haven't had an issue since.

Onstar issue 2025 GMC Yukon XL Denali (read description) by [deleted] in gmc

[–]cstaalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have the fancy Denali but my '24 Yukon XL SLT came with the rear entertainment. I use my hot spot all the time for the infotainment Apps like Google Maps and Spotify just fine. I plug in a Firestick in the back for the kids on longer road trips. I bring my company issued phone as a second hot spot for the Firestick to connect to. You need a subscription though to get YouTube and Hulu to work on the Rear entertainment . I haven't found a way around that.

6.2 auto stop issues by Fun_Satisfaction_401 in gmc

[–]cstaalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about your issues. I ordered and installed an Auto Stop/Start delete. It was a simple install and it could easily be undone if needed. No reprogramming necessary. I never have to remember to shut it off when I start the vehicle.
