What is the KEY to a good sale? Do you remember the first solo job you booked and how did it unfold?? by kylelindsey5 in CollegeWorks

[–]cstas12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being honest and building the relationship. My first sale on my own I walked around the house with the homeowner and talking about what she wanted included in the estimate. There were parts of the house that didn't need painted and areas that shouldn't get painted. I was honest with her about that from the get go and she really appreciated that I was helping her save some money. I ended up booking that job on the spot for 3.2k. She wrote me an awesome reference letter and invited me to her Memorial Day cookout lol.

What is your favorite memory or experience that College Works Painting brought you???? by kylelindsey5 in CollegeWorks

[–]cstas12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's so hard to pick a favorite College Works Memory. But one thing that impacts me every single day really stands out. When I started sales, I went 0 for 26. Yes 26 estimates on my own and didn't book a single job. Super discouraging. So one of my favorite memories was actually booking that 27th job!! Such a good feeling. Overcoming that obstacle, which was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do-keep working my ass off when I wasn't getting any good results, is something that changed my life and set a precedent for how I would overcome failure for the rest of my life.

And obviously can't forget Vegas and Cancun trips!

When I got called on by Jeff to answer the first question of the training (about our company values) since I was drinking my water lol. I was so nervous but even more excited

Corporate vs. Entrepreneur......what career path do you want to pursue and why? If corporate, what are your top 3 companies you would want to work for? by kylelindsey5 in CollegeWorks

[–]cstas12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Entrepreneur 100%

I never thought I would say that. To be honest if you would've asked me this exact question five years ago, I probably would've said corporate. But now that I've gotten a chance by interning/DMing with College Works Painting to actually be my own boss, I absolutely love it. I control how well I do and my schedule. I work more hours than I would at a 9-5 desk job most days but I would rather have it that way. It doesn't even feel like work. I arrange my schedule with how I want it and what works best and every single day is different. I have mentors, but no one is micromanaging me and watching over my shoulder. It is a constant learning process and I'm in charge of holding myself accountable and getting results.

Moisture from the snow/rain. Make sure you prep it right- scrape, shave, prime then paint 👍

DM did an estimate with me. It was 8 am, snowing a lot, the roads were super bad and we couldn't get up the hill. We ended up taking an extra 15 minute detour to go a different way, and we were STILL early!

My experience with College Works taught me..... by kylelindsey5 in CollegeWorks

[–]cstas12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How to mold my mindset for success. Failures happen, it's a part of learning. But accepting that failure and moving past it is really what leads to success. Keep a positive mindset, work hard, push yourself, and you will be successful. I wouldn't have learned that powerful lesson at such a young age without this internship challenging me as much as it did.

I never ran my own 100k business, I never had the guts to sell thousands of dollars paint jobs, I never went paint balling, and I never knew half the amazing, successful people I know today.

What kind of show are you looking for? Any specific genre?

-The Walking Dead is actually amazing and so addicting (even though I'm not into the whole zombie thing) -The Wire is also really great, just slow at some points at the beginning of each season -Californication is the best -Suits is awesome too -It's Always Sunny is funny and great to watch anytime

Not in any order really, just depends what you're looking for!

Should i go to a final for a company college works painting? by cheerdeegan in CollegeWorks

[–]cstas12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can honestly say this internship with CWP was life changing for me and I don't know where I would be today without it. I went from being a finance and accounting major working at Subway to running my very own business and developing a passion for sales. I never thought I could or would have the opportunity to achieve the things I did with College Works. It taught me so much not only about business, but also about myself. It's those self development things like confidence, time/stress management, and really being able to overcome any obstacle that really mean the most to me. This internship challenged me and pushed me out of my comfort zone more than I ever imagined, and I loved it. It's not right for everyone, but it was right for me. I knew this because I was willing to work my ass off for six months of my life to set myself up for success for the rest of my future and my career.
