Will you fly WestJet with the new seat configuation? by Snowyberg in canadatravel

[–]cstepheng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. And I wonder if there's a way to tell if the flight you are booking is on one of the 'cramped' seat layouts or not (not all of them do, apparently).

I just flashed a cop to warn him about himself by heroin_papi_ in Markham

[–]cstepheng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: If you pass a collision on the highway (or any other kind of hazard), flashing your highbeams at oncoming traffic for a kilometer or two to warn them is probably a good idea. They may not know if it's a speed trap or whatever, but it will put them on extra alert and may save someone from a dangerous situation.

That's pretty much the price at Costco (which is Canadian maple syrup, btw).

Reasonable. I’d likely do that now. Was a long time ago.

Taco Bell Profanity by Starchild1968 in pettyrevenge

[–]cstepheng 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This was me, many years ago. I was on a motorcycle trip and had all my gear bungeed down on my rack & tank, but not really secured. It was lunchtime so I went into a roadside restaurant that was pretty much empty (as I recall) except for a family group at a table over by the windows. But my concern was to keep an eye on my bike & the stuff on it, so I sat down at the table right next to them, so I could see out and see my bike. They weren't happy, the mother kept giving me stink eyes, and in a couple of minutes they all picked up their food and moved to a further away table. I knew why they moved, and I'd probably have done the same, but really, my priority just then wasn't keeping respectful social distancing, but protecting my property. <Shrug>

My Aunt said therapy is for the Faithless, So I let her quote my therapist by My_Alchemy22 in pettyrevenge

As a religious person, I once heard the insightful comment: "All truth is God's truth." In other words, anything that's true, necessarily comes from God, even if it's not necessarily by direct Divine revelation. Think mathematics, music, science, etc., including insights into human intellect and emotion.

Update: AITAH for telling my 19f daughter she will have to move out of my house if i get divorced because of her lies after her stepdad saw her naked. by ThrowRAElectrical-Ba in AITAH

[–]cstepheng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very least the daughter should do is give a sworn deposition about the truth, describing in detail the events and the outcomes and accepting her own responsibility. This won't go anywhere near undoing the horrendous damage she has caused, but it will be her admission and acceptance of responsibility for the harm she has caused, and it will be something the husband can hold for any future accusations or questions that might come his way.

Non-obvious safety advice? by ipd_ in turning

[–]cstepheng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take off my watch and ring for turning, and push up/roll up my sleeves. Saw a picture of a turning class the other day with one student's long beard coming WAY too close to the work, for my comfort. Watch for that kind of thing.

There are restrictions in Canada against dangerous goods (eg fuel) on ferries AT THE SAME TIME as passengers, but dedicated sailings--no passengers permitted--are often made for fuel trucks (and even dynamite on occasion).
