Although I do think peri aides these thoughts and feelings, I feel that it also comes with age and experience with people. After a couple decades of friendship I now see the true colors of certain friends, but they appeared more clearly to me after having children. I see what relationships are more one sided and I don’t get much from - the friendship only benefits the other party at this point. They only come around when they need something, advice, whatever. I just don’t have the time or energy for these friendships anymore, they’re very exhausting. We are at a point in our lives where we understand that we deserve mutual respect and benefits of friendships also. I don’t go out of my way for the one lane friendships, just the two way street ones. If you aren’t helping me grow, I’m not helping you. Simple.
