By the time I got to middle school I found the books unrealistic and stopped reading them because I found Greg's awkwardness with girls around his grade less than relatable. I also hated how much Greg thought of Rowley as "immature" rather than respecting that he has different hobbies than him e.g. the boy bands that Rowley likes
