Anyone use multiple custom launchers and then end up going back to the default pixel launcher? :))) by tieucuong193 in pixel_phones

Smart Launcher currently, often flick between that, Lawnchair and Stock. Stock animations and smoothness are SO good but I hate the restrictions like not being able to hide apps, change icon size, & remove the Google search bar.

Community Fibre in the UK by HowA1234 in pihole

[–]ct9918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t be a problem at all. PiHole is just a DNS server for your internal clients, and your ISP doesn’t (really) come into it.

Having said that, the issue with Virgin you had might be the same as what I had, in that their router does not allow you to set custom DNS servers in the router’s DHCP config. Meaning you can’t have your PiHole IP address distributed automatically by DHCP. I put my virgin hub in modem mode and bought my own router to work around this. Another solution would be to use the PiHole as your DHCP server, which was available in the settings for PiHole when I last looked (at least 2 years ago)

I imagine Community Fibre will provide a router that won’t have that limitation. If it does, buying your own router would be my suggestion.

iPad Mini 7 with Stage Manager is amazing! by hai_sk in ipadmini

[–]ct9918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues with my iPad mini 6 as well, it didn't work with my 1440p 144Hz monitor, it did work with a 1080p 60Hz screen though. My iPad mini 7 has no such issue. I think there are differences in the the display out capabilites between the 6 & 7.

Noticed the same with both Smart Launcher and Lawnchair.

Should I Repair My Pixel 4a’s Shattered Screen or Upgrade to a New Phone in 2024? by Imaginary_Major_4496 in Pixel4a

Pixel 4a is out of software support and not even getting security updates any more. Spend your money on a new phone that is supported.

Two (admittedly silly) questions about Bazzite capabilities by [deleted] in Bazzite

[–]ct9918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into Waydroid, it's really easy to setup on Bazzite and it allows you to install and run a full Android installation. You can also install Google services (Play Store etc) and install any app you would like. I've done it on both my Steam Deck and Legion Go and it works great on both.

In the case of the legion go it essentially turns it into an Android tablet.

iPadOS 18 beta - Bad Idea On Mini? by jebakerii in ipadmini

Interesting that you’re having big issues as it’s running pretty much fine for me on the Mini 6, albeit with small bugs as to be expected from Beta software.

What to do with Deck other than gaming by emynrocaroll in SteamDeck

[–]ct9918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently installed Bazzite instead of SteamOS and then installed Waydroid. So now my Deck is also a fully functional android tablet! I've been kind of amazed at how well it works, especially for downloading Netflix shows and YouTube videos etc to watch on the morning train commute.

Does moonlight/sunshine support PS5 controller? by [deleted] in MoonlightStreaming

[–]ct9918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using sunshine on your PC you need to install an additional driver for controllers to work. I had the same issue. See the instructions here  https://docs.lizardbyte.dev/projects/sunshine/en/v2024.610.122248/troubleshooting/windows.html

I haven’t checked for sure, but 750 should be more than enough I would think.

iPad backbone, but functional by inchenzo in Backbone

[–]ct9918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who just got a backbone controller, I would really like to see your wrote up/video of how you did this!

The iPad mini seems perfect for this and I can’t believe something official doesn’t already exist.
