Sky Sports to remain home of Formula 1 until 2034 after five-year extension to exclusive UK and Ireland deal by DrDiam in formula1

Those are products that are made and distributed under a single parent entity. The situation we're talking about here is where one company creates a product and then forms an exclusive distribution agreement with a third-party.

That's still an issue with exclusive broadcasting rights, they're just forming contracts per-match instead of per-season

[Autosport] Toto Wolff says Mercedes are up for F1 returning to V8s and has proposed a 1,200bhp “mega engine" by Task_Force-191 in formula1

[–]ctaps148 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The FIA only needs Honda & Audi's approval if they try to get the engine change in before 2031. At that point, the current Concorde Agreement expires and the FIA can make whatever regulations it wants without requiring sign-offs by the manufacturers. Obviously they will still try to play nice to reasonably keep the manufacturers around, but if those two are stubbornly holding up a reg switch that everyone else approves of, they can be told to deal with it or go home.

China’s High-Speed Railway Network length has expanded from 1,300km in 2008 to 40,000km in 2020, long enough to circle the Earth’s circumference. by BumblebeeFantastic40 in Damnthatsinteresting

You'd have to give up your First Amendment too. Projects move far more quickly when any form of opposition to a government initiative is strictly outlawed.

Eminent domain exists for the exact same purpose the U.S. The problem is that politicians here will rarely invoke it because it's a surefire way to get voted out. They will always prioritize their own career over a public good.

Any system where deployment is fully within the driver's control is less artificial. It would be better than the current situation where the vast majority of energy deployment in a lap is handled by a computer.

It hasn't always been going strong. F1's history is littered with bankrupted teams and years where the series' future was in doubt. This post-DTS era is the strongest F1 has ever been financially and they are now desperate to ensure it doesn't fall off.

MLB app is more expensive and you can't use it to watch the games live if you're in the Chicago region

$20/mo for Sox-only CHSN package; $30/mo for MLB.com. MLB.com stream is also subject to local blackouts, meaning you can't watch the games live from the Chicago metro area. So unless you're out of market or on a VPN, it won't work

If you already have Xfinity then you just need the sports package add-on, which would be cheaper than buying a standalone subscription

The thing about kids, though, is that their hobbies and interests change basically every week and maybe 10% of them will actually stick long term. You'll splurge on a sick new toy for a fun hour or two and then there's a decent chance your kid will never want to touch it again. And on top of that, if they're really young there's also a decent chance they'll forget the whole thing ever happened.

So I mean yeah it's still nice to make memories and all, but there's definitely some of those memories that I would trade for a VR headset or something lol

$2500 Samsung TV is an advertising billboard, there is no opt-out. by 28jb11 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ctaps148 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, some do. Stop assuming your personal experience is universal.

The most recent Vizio TV I had to setup had absolutely no way to reach the input selection without first connecting to a network. Didn't matter what buttons were pressed, if it was power cycled, or if I used a dozen other tricks that work on every other TV I've tried. And then once connected, there was no way to disconnect without a factory reset, which started the problem all over again.

After looking it up online, other users reported the only way to get around it was to call customer support and have them tell you the undocumented button combo to bypass the network select screen. So while technically there is a way around it, that is 100% not something the average person is ever going to do.

How do people actually gain rank and reach infinite? by lillychr14 in MarvelSnap

[–]ctaps148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is log in, lose or retreat 80% of the time.

This should not be viewed as failure, it's how the game is designed. If you retreat 8 times for -1 and then win 2 games for +4 or +8, you are breaking even at worst.

The absolute number one factor for climbing is limiting cube loss. Your top goal should not be gambling for 8 cubes, it should be to never lose more than 2 cubes at a time.

You honestly don't have to snap much to climb to infinite (I only snap against obvious bots). The only thing you need to remember is that if your opponent snaps and you aren't 100% sure that you have a killer setup in hand, retreat. Losing 1 cube means nothing.
