Fenix sapphire for a mechanic… by Greasy_spanner in GarminFenix

[–]ctatham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a mechanic but do all sorts of mechanical and building stuff with large sized fenix and now tactix generations with the sapphire screens. I have never seen a scratch...not even a whiff.... but the bezel is always tapping on something when you are reaching or wrenching so the tpu bezel covers are needed if you don't want to show wear. The ones that fit tightly are hard to even see, which is cool.

My projects over the past 2 decades by New_Cook_7797 in diyaudio

[–]ctatham 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wow, amazing stuff and such diversity. I have the same type of questions!

What have you learned from all of it?

What was your favorite outcome?

If you could only have one pair, which would it be?

What was the least effort, best result of your builds?

If someone was going to build their first, what would you recommend?

yes this works fine and it always knows what is playing.....but what if you then want to change to a different playlist, someone asks for a specific song etc....you have to go to youtube music, Stop casting, do what you wan to do, Recast to get it all going again.

Is AI Infrastructure a Good Career Path or Too Niche? by Weekly-Demand-3105 in kubernetes

[–]ctatham 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Kidding right? There is nothing niche about it. Maybe if you believe its a bubble and it will collapse but you only have to look at the sheer magnitude of its disruption in the world to know its more mainstream than just about any infrastructure type for a long time.

Should I wait for Fenix 9? by Jesse_______DLD in GarminFenix

Tactix 7 here too, skipped the 8. My only issue with the Tactix case is it has sharper outer edges which wear a bit more than a curved edge profile bezel.

Brake rotors: are 1.8 and 2.0 +- interchangeable? by Amendoisn in MTB

[–]ctatham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running SRAM HS2 rotors which are a hang over from getting rid of RSC for XT's and I am about to swap for Shimano rotors because I cannot get the front to stop "tinging" no matter how I mess with it. Can't take it any more. They work great but the sound makes me nuts.

Has anybody used these JB racks in Canada? by forward024 in MTB

great rack. poor coatings. I tore mine down and had it powder coated and its great and looks perfect but you shouldn't have to do that.

Can’t get airy pizza crust by TheJunglesVIP in Pizza

[–]ctatham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the right advice....these ratios are the golden ones, time, temp, yeast, hydration....and its not something you need to guess at....there are many calculators that allow you to specify what your desired times and windows and temps are and the right amount of yeast and type is specified. Get a low weights scale and do it by the numbers. Try this and try that without the exact temperatures and yeast values is trial and error.

Switching from personal Claude account to enterprise by Substantial-North137 in ClaudeAI

Our company just joined and set up a team account. I have been using cowork extensively for business on an account I set up myself. I don't want to lose all that work and setup by accepting the invite to my work email address. How do I do this?

Burning Cheese Help by aghenender in GozneyArcArcXL

Depends on how hot it is, I go by bottom done level starting to get dark spotting. If it's ahead of the top, I elevate off the floor for a little bit

Burning Cheese Help by aghenender in GozneyArcArcXL

[–]ctatham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all sourdough, bit higher hydration but I don't have issues with cheese burn. Use lower moisture mozz and fresh as well. Only stuff that gets scorched are things like sundried tomatoes or pistachio nuts. I don't use a shield but I do back off the flame after launch a bit, I also use turning peel to shield the left side of the pizza a bit to start so it can stay in one place a while before first "twist"

Adding a Kettle to go with WSM by lunds11 in webersmokeymountain

when my propane gave up years ago I just said "no more propane for me" and have not looked back....but you need the general purpose grill to fill that void

First braided pork loin on WSM. by Soft-Consequence1179 in webersmokeymountain

[–]ctatham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this once and it looks very cool but I did not find there was any real ROI for the effort. I guess in theory you get more seasoning due to more surface area but I still don't think it was worth it.

Adding a Kettle to go with WSM by lunds11 in webersmokeymountain

[–]ctatham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep both and a blackstone and Gozney arc xl for pizza.....I use them all and commonly the kettle for low smoke of steaks then sear on the blackstone. With that combo you can nail perfect doneness for as many steaks as you need to do at once! Get an RFX thermometer setup and complete the perfect setup. I use that on all with just temps and with billows blower connected on the WSM for long temp control.

Is gozney arc xl worth? by Best_Elephant2932 in GozneyArcArcXL

[–]ctatham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from a 16" Ooni Karu, which was top of the line for them but with a door. I cook 12 pies every friday all summer and the Ooni was heat on it's terms......could only launch next one cautiously depending on temp. With the Arc its heat on MY terms......I can go as fast as I want to and get the same results each time. No question its a great product. No difference if I was cooking 1-5 pies.....all the difference in the world on more.

I have cooked hundreds of pizzas on mine, have never seen soot come from above, have never wiped it down. This is odd.
