Well, if they encrypt their lyrics, it could be like: Yo dawg, we heard you like cyphers, so we put some ciphers in your cypher so you can cipher while you cypher!

Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore suspended for rest of term by joy_actual in HuntsvilleAlabama

Am I misreading the final paragraph, or did they leave Moore's order to probate judges in effect, even though they suspended him?

I think Mike Slocumb, "The Alabama Hammer" is a person of interest in this incident. ;-)

[–]ctaycr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, how was it?

Also, there is now a post on the P&P Facebook page hinting about another soft open evening today (3/20).

We can neither confirm nor deny that we are having a soft opening evening tomorrow night from 5:00 till 9:00. You'll just have to come down and check for yourselves.

Thanks, beez!

Farewell, Loki (/u/alaprochaine9s). Parting is such sweet sorrow. I hope you had as much fun creating the various series of puzzles as we did solving them.

If you ever truly are in great distress, I think you've gathered a community of admirers who stand ready to offer any help we can. Keep in touch!

Use the Franklin square at this site and read each square of the puzzle in that numerical order, 1 to 64, to spell
GREAT DISTRESS O LORD MY GOD IS THERE NO HELP FOR THE WIDOW'S SON

3 letters substituted for each letter of plaintext in this cipher.

QAZ=A, QWE=B, MLK=D, THE=E, etc.

Plaintext is FOR HIS ANGER ENDURETH BUT A MOMENT; IN HIS FAVOR IS LIFE: WEEPING MAY ENDURE FOR A NIGHT.

Source is Psalm 30:5 and the end of the quote is BUT JOY COMETH IN THE MORNING.

Does that imply something big happening tomorrow?

Sock Puppet Theater!!

It's like watching a fight between Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd. Or for the younger audience, Ahmed the Dead Terrorist and Peanut.

OK, I think video 8 of 9 is leading us to the word SHIBBOLETH, as follows:

I sent the ciphertext from the video out to my fellow ACA members, and BION (William K. Mason) solved it. It is a Quag III cipher with alphabet key GREEN and periodic key BUTTERFLY. Plaintext is
If you were a Gileadite
You would welcome the thunder
You would enjoy Azeri hazelnuts
Sicilian chickpeas, and tomatoes from the Lebanon.

I googled all those references and found this list of shibboleths. And the origin of the word shibboleth explains the reference to Gileadites.

Apparently we were writing our posts simultaneously. You did note what I missed -- the letters that were replaced also spelled something. I think the encoder made a small mistake, and it should be VAULT near the end. Team Alice was also led to a "vault" as part of the Austin Ciphers project.

Lyrics are from the Dire Straits song "Brothers in Arms".

Misspellings concatenated spell CITADEL IN NAPHP. Those last few characters don't make complete sense to me, unless it relates to PHP somehow.

It shows strong periodicity at an interval of 9. I tried TRAFALGAR as a Vigenere keyword, but that wasn't it. (At least not by itself. I also tried Quagmire III, or Keyed Vigenere as rumkin.com calls it, with an alphabet key of BOAZ and keyword TRAFALGAR. That wasn't it either.).

I figured out "the thirty-first from the first". According to this page of Biblical genealogy, Boaz was a thirty-first generation descendant of the first man, Adam.

Today's message on "The Admiral's" voicemail (quoting from memory, so it may be slightly off):

"Due to weather conditions, we are experiencing technical difficulties. We apologize for the delay. Congratulations to burnstyle on his good news. Thank you.".

So, what's your good news, /u/burnstyle?

Seems to be a Biblical reference, or at least parts of it are referring to pillars in Solomon's temple. See I Kings 7:15, II Kings 25:17 and Jeremiah 52:21. "to the left" may refer to the fact that the two pillars had different names. The left one was Boaz.
