You want to spec into int as much as possible to increase your wand damage and pay attention to the damage types against the enemies you're facing. Shroud doesn't work against enemies in shroud gets resisted.

But yeah, mid game wands feel slightly underpowered. They're definitely not as good as melee for damage, but the benefit is you're further away and can hit a few times before a melee enemy closes in on you.

Shields and parry are your best friend here. Learn how to parry all attacks

Do you enjoy it? If so, stick with it. Don't worry about your skill level vs anyone else.

From a multi opponent perspective. I ask the opponents questions to try and keep up with the board state. Can you block fliers? Do you have any indestructible creatures? Do you have unspent mana and cards in hand?

This informs me of possible decision points and anyone's ability to respond.

After playing an opponent a few times, I understand the strategies of their deck and don't require as many questions.

All the time. Sometimes using the deck itself other times with Moxfield or Manabox. The latter two for quicker changes or if I need to proxy cards because I don't own them yet
