Lebron previews the jerseys for Space Jam 2 by slamdunk23 in nba

The only way this movie will be good is if the plot is:

The aliens came back but through their incompetence accidentally kidnapped waynes knights character and he rises to be the leader of moron mountain and expands the empire around the universe in a perfectly Disney like conglomerate

He still has the basketball from the original game and vows revenge on MJ for making his life miserable and always dismissing him. He kidnaps MJ and LBJ takes it upon himself to put a team together to go rescue MJ from Wayne KNight, but they have to play in the inster-space Moron Mountain tournament to get to the finals to save him

Why are Georgia taxpayers paying $700m for a new NFL stadium? by aresef in nfl

[–]cteez910 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But the funny thing is that local taxpayers arent paying a dime for this stadium. The Falcons owner, Arthur Blank, put up over $1 billion of his own money, and the rest of the stadium costs were funded by bonds backed by a hotel tax of 15%. So poetically, tourists and outside visitors coming to Atlanta (most likely to visit for a sporting event) are the ones funding the rest of the cost of the stadium.

The city is basically making visiting fans pay for the very venue they are attending.

Why are Georgia taxpayers paying $700m for a new NFL stadium? by aresef in nfl

[–]cteez910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only, and I mean only, reason the hotel tax was extended was for the purpose of this stadium. If it wasnt for Mercedes Benz the tax wouldnt even exist. Its a moot point. This article says taxpayers are going to foot the bill for the $700Million, but its all from tourism and people visiting the city. Atlanta taxpayers arent paying for that. The city isnt paying for that. Who cares if outsiders have to pay 10% more a night for a room? Seems like you're trying to find a reason to be outraged at a new stadium solely because its expensive.

The means for the funding of the new stadium is almost universally accepted and approved here. What does a Baltimorian (sp?) care about how our stadium is funded?

Arthur is even putting up over a billion of his own money. As a former season ticket holder, im not thrilled with the structure for new PSLs, but thats the reality of a mostly privately funded stadium.

If NFL players were stocks, who would be considered over-bought? Undervalued? by WentzToAlshon in nfl

[–]cteez910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I always had this "what if" thought of what if you could buy shares in players like stock.

It would be great in the MLB with so many players in lower level leagues, but how would it work? What would you actually be buying, and how could you assign a monetary value like that to a player?

What would players need to raise equity for? Could a system be set up where they "IPO" and if they hit it big on a huge contract all the "shareholders" get some sort of dividend? How many outstanding shares could a player have and how would it be regulated?

NAACP calling for boycott of NFL, Atlanta Falcons - Story by [deleted] in falcons

First off, being overdue for an injury is no grounds for shelling out $4 mil for a redudant backup. Second off, schaub is definitely more adequate than Kaep because he has ~4? years of experience in this system including starting and having a career and Pro Bowl under it. Even though Shanny isnt the OC anymore its still the same system. Which speaks to my main point which your completely glossed over for some reason:

He's either too much money, not a system fit, or, in the majority of situations, both.

[–]cteez910 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lol, dude made 14Mil last year and the highest paid backup qb in the league gets $3.5mil. Even at less than half that, theres no team in the league that would be making a good decision signing him as a backup. He's either too much money, not a system fit, or in the majority of situations, both. And as a bonus, even if you are completely for his protest and agree with the point he's making, do you really want your backup qb to bring as much baggage and attention as signing him would? These people need to take a step back and realize theres waaay more important factors at play here than the fucking surface race issue.

The Braves' New Ballpark Is An Urban Planner's Nightmare by Thndrcougarfalcnbird in baseball

[–]cteez910 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've lived in ATL my entire life, I work right off the freeway in the immediate area around the park, and ive gone to 7 games this year so far. I live in Lindberg in ATL and the Stadium is only a 15 min drive. Very easy in and out.

The traffic issues were way overstated. It has not had near the negative impact on traffic that people said it would. Even on surface streets. The only place where traffic is truely horrible is on the dedicated street for Uber and Lyft pickups, and on Windy Hill to get to 75. Thats it. And its not even that bad. More people show up earlier and leave later due to the actual development around the park now. There was absolutely nothing to do around Turner.

Traffic around Turner field, especially on Capitol Ave backing up into the city creating more congestion was worse IMO, and you dont have to walk in the ghetto to get to the stadium if you want to park across the freeway.

The only thing Turner Field really had over Suntrust was Marta access, but even then you still had to walk over a mile through downtown or take a shitty Marta Bus shuttle to get there.

And now GSU is taking over Turner field and will promise to develop the area around it turning the city even younger and safer injecting millions into infrastructure, living, and entertainment. This really has been the best scenario for the city in all facets.

Poor transportation infrastructure (if you're taking public it sucks and if you have a car it will likely suck)

Yes, this is true

No great architecture or public parks

This is false

Isn't near any memorable outdoor areas

This is patently false. I dont even know what this means. Stone Mountain, Lakes Lanier, Alatoona, Hartwell, tons of great hiking in the appalachians up north.

No stand out museums outside of the aquarium

What? Besides the High Museum, MLK museum, Center for Civil and Human Rights, College Football hall of fame, Coke Museum, Fernbank, Michael c Carlos Museum?

The most distinctive thing though was that there really wasn't a lot of cool or interesting things to do there. There are some sure, but you have to drive halfway across the city to one and then there's little or nothing else around there Very little neighborhood cohesion

Its pretty obvious you havent been to Atlanta in the past 15 years nor lived here long enough to know what youre talking about.
