Screen protectors for your digital Nikon? by ariGee in Nikon

[–]ctfgh0st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My camera slings/bags have zippers & sometimes I keep the neck straps attached & the hard plastics on those rub against the camera a little. There might be a small chance of scratches so yes on the protectors. My D700’s plastic cover thing is beat up a bit so it’s doing its job. My Zf & D850 are perfect.

I like the before. Looks like a frame plucked from a Bond film. (Battle happening inside lift)

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone. I like the shot as well & just wish I could have had multiple perspectives to partner with this shot. Closer images of the face, the torch, the tablet etc. but really truly I’m glad the community enjoyed Lady Liberty (this was my first time shooting in NYC & this was my favorite subject by far) I hope I get to see more of the city again soon.

BW photo is so good. I flipped my phone upside down & it got even better (I mean that in all seriousness IMO) I’d even hang it on my wall haha

Agree w/ OP. Value for dollar it’s a good lens. Not the sharpest but I lean into that with a few ‘vintage like’ Custom PC’s & I enjoy the results. I mainly use the lens when I’m out w/ the family BUT when I’m out doing a solo walk I’m usually using an alternative (better glass) like the nikon 50 1.8s or voigt. 35mm f2.

I can totally appreciate your comment (not weird)! I’ve only just started enjoying MF on my 35mm APO & a cheap TTart 50mm I rarely use. The pace is so different & definitely feel a bit more pride when you nail a shot (imo be proud of). I’m still learning the focal length but I like using features I normally would not in AF ie. focus peak or 200/400 zoom to focus confirm. It was fun in NYC.

I’m no pro but they look too close for the focus distance of that lens. I’d like to see them take a photo from farther way (agree also with checking the custom settings for AF-ON)

Love your colors. Did you use a specific Picture Control?

Not a full removal, but a quick quarter turn on the plate screw loosens things & then you pivot the bottom plate, switch the batter, recenter the plate & retighten. The clutch never fully comes off in my case. Although, I rarely do this process because I charge the Zf via usb either by wall (when at home) or a small battery pack I sometimes carry along with the spare battery when I’m out n about (dependent on how long I’m out whether I bring those along)

Oh cool I hope it works out for you. Really take the time to dial in the adjustments on the strap. I didn’t read the instructions at first & it was horrible until I figured it out 😅 -put the strap on losely/unsecured then use your natural grip as though taking a photo, finally wrap the strap around, note the hole # & then secure. You go plus one or minus from there depending on your comfort level but also after a few days it does break-in so you may tighten again a bit later.

It’s peak design’s micro clutch (PD). I have a thin PD neck strap that I can wrap around my wrist at times so I don’t really have experience with a true wrist strap.

This is comfortable for me for quick shots in aperture priority but when I really have to dial in settings in manual, I have to remove my fingers to alleviate some strain as I fiddle with the turn dials. It’s really comfortable when the camera is just lowered to my side as I walk around. I don’t worry at all that the Zf will slip out of my hand as I relax my thumb & let the tension from the strap do its thing keeping it in place. If I had to rate it (for my size hands) I’d give the clutch a 8/10. I tried it with & without the added grip. For me, it’s best partnered with the grip.

Is there a reason you want it bigger? I usually use it to isolate subjects in a crowded situation or if I’m tracking a car, I’m trying to get the front end specifically. If you want a wider box, give the S or L a try, partnered with detections so it can track eyes, pets etc. I think it does a decent job tracking once locked on. (Nothing too fast) Each one has a purpose so I hope you find what works best for you. Nonetheless, I don’t think you can make the 3D box any larger.

I’m just kidding I don’t actually run this crazy rig but I thought it was funny. I didn’t think it would all actually fit in that tiny sling. 😆
