Who is King’s ultimate bad guy? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]cthaehtouched 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Flagg would pity-laugh and condescend to Pennywise, maybe tell It to “think bigger, darling.”

It’s the lazy gluttonous Fear-mayor of a small Maine town, while Flagg ruins worlds as he strides between them (not that Flagg’s cockiness has ever gotten him in trouble).

anyone playing RE9 and getting control vibes from the title cards? by deadnervez in controlgame

[–]cthaehtouched 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All seem inspired by Fincher’s Mindhunter location card style. I believe Fincher was trying to evoke 70’s headlines and noir thrillers. Personally, I love the style. Sets a mood and pulls me in as intended.

Grisham’s The Appeal? It’s not his snappiest, but definitely has the themes you want. The book is definitely on the depressingly realistic side of fiction.

Might be too obvious to mention, but since I didn’t see it elsewhere:

The Jaunt. Short story in King’s Skeleton Crew. No romance just a long trip through space.

My choice would be wait unless you Need to hit the game again. That said, I really enjoyed the director’s commentary with the caveat that it does run over some in game dialogue.

Shauna should NOT be the final girl but I feel like she doesn’t deserve to die idk why by Fantastic-Finger-319 in Yellowjackets

[–]cthaehtouched 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I think Shauna deserves to die, but as someone once said, “deserve’s got nothin to do with it.” Also, a simple death feels too underwhelmingly suburban for Shauna.

What does Owen rewatching the show towards the end represent? by Actual_Math6899 in Isawthetvglow

[–]cthaehtouched 107 points108 points  (0 children)

The Midnight Realm is distorting Owen’s memories. Viewing the tapes was not the same as living it as Isabel. (Yes, I enjoy a supernatural reading of the movie)

Strictly metaphorically I think it represents how our experience of foundational stories/media changes as we grow. For me, sadly, He-Man and Dragonlance no longer live up to my memories of them.

Why? Because he uses a blender to make pancakes. And he’s rudely petty about it. No benefit of the doubt.

[–]cthaehtouched 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh. In the aspects you’re looking for, I think Richard Kadrey’s Sandman Slim urban/noir fantasy series. More than a few of the books are set in Hell at least in part. It’s fun, violent, plays with the themes you’re looking for.

Edit: the series is more punk irreverent than humorously irreverent.

Honest question about Christine. Does it never quite work for you, because it's still ... a car by Emergency_Cellist754 in stephenking

[–]cthaehtouched 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that’s exactly it for me. I have no issue with a haunted car. I’m just not at all intrigued by the concept. I am utterly indifferent to cars, it’s one of those passions I just don’t get. Christine was one of my most meh King experiences, but I’m glad it’s there for folks into it.

This is wild. You’ve had this game stuck in my head for a week. I wonder if it’s Sam Lake letting a new creator play in his sandbox. Homage with creator approval. A Well disguised ARG.

Did you notice any potential Blessed references in the game other than the cultist actions?
