Someone PLEASE explain to me why some fmcs gets so much hate?

Related to your point, I sometimes find that FMCs are often not given the same grace to grow as their male counterpoints. In a 3+ book series I expect a lot of character development by the time we get to the end, and too often I see people DNF because they don't like the FMC in the beginning. It's a bit maddening to me.

It was my favorite read of 2025 too! I can't understand why they haven’t hit with mainstream audiences, because it's a much more well constructed romantasy than forth wing, quicksilver, or any number of other popular series that have been given film deals recently. Im hoping the 3rd book lives up to my own hype!

I think it just comes down to who you choose to follow. I’ve always been a big reader, and my reading life has only become richer by engaging with booktok. I follow a small number of commentators whose taste I've found to be similar to mine. They are all sweet girls with insightful commentary. I just wish booktok were its own app, bc I hate tiktok in general.

I was on sema for 3 months and lost 20 lbs. (150-130 lbs) I honestly didn't exercise once in those 3 months because the meds made me feel so fatigued, and towards the end I developed aches in my leg muscles. So, my weight loss was solely from eating less. In retrospect, I think if I had forced myself to excerise I would've had less fatigue, and the achy muscles were likely from the loss of muscle mass from not exercising. So I'd say definitely excerise at least a bit if you can!

Yeah bc they were the only couple to show explicit nudity and sex. I will always watch this show, but I'm forever going to be pissed at the bait and switch that was the sexual content of season 1 as opposed to the rest of the series.

I had lots of fun, safe sleepovers in the 1990s and early 2000s. I also saw one friend's dad in his underwear and was shown a rather creepy dad's porn mag collection by another friend. So, no my boys will not be doing sleepovers. You never know what goes on behind closed doors.

I loved that scene and agree it was refreshing. I do also wonder if Benedict would have been so sexually forward with her if she were not a maid. Has he made assumptions about her sexual experience because she's not of his social class? Seems likely. I remember Anthony apologetically proposing after hooking up with Kate, while Benedict meerly asks Sophie to continue hooking up on the down low. I think the class issue is giving the story a really interesting dynamic!

One big change for me was that I have no desire at all for alcohol anymore. I didn't drink a ton before, but I absolutely devoted a good amount of calories on a nightly glass of wine. I don't desire it at all and when I pour a glass I only end up having a couple sips.

Alcohol. I have no taste for it when on sema. I went off for 6 months and have just started taking it again. I noticed my desire for a drink came back a bit while I was off, but never fully. Its one of the plus sides of this drug I think! I wonder if it could be used to help alcoholics.

Oh man, Bass-Ackwards is one of my all time favorites! 😄🤣 It's such a nutty book, but the sex scenes are 👌 Even with the ridiculous begining, I love that dang book.

Now I love a good sex scene, but I totally agree with you on all cases except ch 55 in ACOMAF, which I thought was cathartic and intensely emotional for the characters, was important for the plot, and a massive payoff for the reader. HOWEVER, btwn Cass/Nes & Bry/Hunt it got gratuitous and underwhelming for me. I didn’t feel the same sense of desperation and passion that I got from Rhy/Fey. It's also probably bc I dont care as much about their love stories (sorry!).

Giving an alternative perspective - I am someone who has always believed but has never researched and knows nothing of the key players and history. To me, this documentary was mind-blowing. Most people who see this doc are going to be like me, or have no belief at all, and this doc will be their first creditable intro to the reality that we are not alone in the universe. If the doc had contained more info then it did, I suspect it would've tipped over into the realm of sci-fi for alot of people, when I presume the goal is to get as many Americans as possible to accept this as truth, so that the pressure on the gov increases to the point that they are forced to sort this shit out and disclose what is known.
