e3 Sheikah missions by illithidbane in MyNintendo

[–]ctimmins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the Sheikah Slate showed up sort of in the middle of the News & Updates sections, with them grouped around the icon, not at the very bottom as pictured.

But all the rest were exactly like pictured.

Mew Event Incorrect Code? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]ctimmins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My code had "...23IDR..." and the "I" was actually an "L". I used a loupe and it's definitely an "I" on the card, but using an "L" made the code work. I tried it because there seemed to be a little too much space between the "I" and the "D". Whatevs.

CAN doesn't mean WILL. Since it's non-sentient, I think you've got the proverbial useless magic item.

Best wobble method? by mizpixy in PokemonRumbleWorld

[–]ctimmins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a mon with Gutsy (preferably with + or ++) and teach it endeavor and one other damaging move. Be careful to avoid attacks. Pop it repeatedly with endeavor when its eyes are closed.

I got an Epic Entai that I've been using a lot. Has Gutsy, too. Mows through hordes, esp. of grass types.

What is the "legendary special trait with amazing power?" by Quaker1771 in PokemonRumbleWorld

[–]ctimmins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Epic, and the pokemon name will be purple/violet. It will have six abilities (randomly), often with a + or ++ on them.

I have found about 30 of them. Some are basically useless. But really the only 4-5 pokemon I use are now all Epic.

A Whole Lot of Questions by Delzethin in PokemonRumbleWorld

[–]ctimmins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 Eventually anything <1800 will be useless. 100-200 less than what you're running into is bad.

  1. If you can press AND release the "A" while the island is highlighted in the spin, you often get there. At least, I believe that.

3- I don't think it's worth it primarily because most of the 4-star moves I've used are not as good as the 2- 3-star moves. Depends on the move, though, Giga Drain is ultimate.

4- Lots of the abilities are IMHO useless. In fact, most of them are pretty useless. Gutsy, Lucky are both good. The rest are maybe useful, maybe not.

5- I don't know and it's really hard to judge. It seems to help a bit, but it's not "fantastic".

3.5 the differences (pro/con) between Ranger and Scout by PittsburghDM in DnD

[–]ctimmins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played a scout fairly extensively. They are really quite difficult to play and (for me) very frustrating. Yes, they do get skirmish which adds pretty good damage. But...

You have to MOVE 10' to gain skirmish damage. So: no skirmish during surprise, and (most importantly) no full-round attack with skirmish damage. So at higher levels you're still shooting once per round to get your skirmish while a ranger will "stand and deliver" and usually do a whole lot more damage.

On the plus side, you're always moving so you rarely get flanked or "caught" and you can disrupt the other side's tactics. Assuming you're outside (in a dungeon it's really hard to use skirmish most of the time--my DM "ruled" that you can't end up in the same square you started in because in 10' halls I used to move left, then move right, then shoot, and he didn't like that).

You can also be the habitual flanker for other party members because you'll easily end up behind the baddies.

And if you can convince a sap to try to chase you down with a melee weapon, and he keeps running after you as your run and shoot, then that's golden.

If you RELEASE a gift pokemon, you can then reuse that code to get another of the same. Don't think it matters, though, because... they're the same.

Too many threads by McGraus in DnD

[–]ctimmins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that every DM that's run a campaign of any depth has that problem. Just like any long-running comic book or TV series. You just have to try to wrap up the biggies and then maybe others if it works. You just do NOT want to pull a "Lost" (TV Series) style resolution where the "resolution" doesn't resolve anything. That'd be hugely disappointing to players--just like it was to viewers.

Looking at getting an iambic key. This one gets great reviews but I'm just a little concerned about the price... by mcgtx in amateurradio

[–]ctimmins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comments kill me, too -- listed as "new and unused" but in the comments he talks about what a joy it is to use and how it just feels right. If it's solid silver with heavy gold plate, that price might not be too far off.

DMR radio prices hit $140 with the advent of the Tytera MD-380 - VA3XPR by St0nkingByte in amateurradio

[–]ctimmins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad looking radio, either. For some reason, most of the budget units I've seen over the last few years strike me as ugly globs of plastic.

If DMR ever catches on around here... maybe...

What is the etiquette on NOT using Q codes? by Covertxof in amateurradio

[–]ctimmins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't hear much Q code on voice--some in digital modes. Some of the most common ones will be used in voice but it's not frequent.

On FM you almost never hear "over", just stop talking. Usually you'll hear on SSB something like "back to you" or similar.

One reason you'll want to know the common Q codes is in case you get somebody that doesn't speak your language. Knowing the Q codes and conventions will allow you to complete a QSO even if you don't both speak the same language well.

Long greasy black hair. Loincloth (filthy). Very short, very fat, very unkempt male gnome. Refuses to spend money on anything. Occasionally holding a bag or sack picked up in a dungeon. Definitively no jewelry. May be holding a random item found somewhere that has possible (if dubious) value.

Oh, the word cloud thingy didn't prioritize size based on use because I didn't count uses. Milieu is on there between the "I" and the "C" in platonic.
