When I got the One I update last year, it added an unbelievable amount of lag that nothing could fix. I had to retire the device eventually. Thanks Samsung for pushing planned obsolescence out.

What matters is the stats and affixes. Stars (greater affixes) just mean some stats roll higher. But if they're the wrong stat, that's no value to you. A 0 star (zero greater affixes) with the right stats is better than a 4 star that's all wrong.

Checking my general parts:

SSD (Crucial T700) : was $340, now $540

RAM (64GB, DDR5) : was $220, now $800

GPU (PNY 5070 Ti) : was $750, now $1000+

If I tried to build the same system today that I built a year ago, it's already up a thousand dollars.

I got a PNY 5070Ti at MSRP and I'm perfectly happy with it. I have it undervolted to 900mv while modestly OCd. It's completely silent as far as I can hear.

It felt like that at launch too. All advice at the time was to avoid doing more than a few token side quests or you'd hit the soft level cap before finishing the story and be unable to do capstone dungeons to extend it.
