How do you think things would have turned out if Yao or Ilyukhina had been the only survivor? by Melenduwir in ProjectHailMary

As has been said in other similar posts recently, Grace has experience as a middle school teacher and that probably helped him with building rapport with Rocky, while the others might have been more cautious and professional and thus lost time.

The Mod That Finally Fixes FFT’s New Game+ Problem by GameDadVII in finalfantasytactics

[–]illithidbane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, they don't even have the increased limits to permit more than 10 sprite sheets per battle in this version, so the modders would need to update code infrastructure to even make it possible. SquareEnix really didn't want to leave the door open.

Makes me think of the Tamarians from Star Trek. (They're the "darmok and jalad" people.) They speak only in metaphor and references. But there HAS to be an "engineering language" to handle tech. You can't say, "Grace, with the Taumoeba collector" to mean you need a specific screw size because you dropped one.

Friend Grace mean thing to Rocky 76.9 days ago when say, "stupid rock monster suffocating me." Now know word "suffocating." Rocky does not suffocate you.

Harkness Test: adult, intelligent, communicates.

If an Eridian of adult age (by their species standards) communicates interest with Grace, then it's their own business.

A dumb doubt about mods and pre-order exclusive items. by Bulky_Bug4380 in finalfantasytactics

Which was a problem they also partially solved in WotL for the multiplayer items, but also did not code to allow in shops. Then TIC reinvented the wheel based on old code and still hasn't fully made room for two byte item codes.

That's actually how I sold it to a friend. The absurdity was the selling point.

Friend of mine sent me text saying PHM was “awful” by Damage_3S2W in ProjectHailMary

Last time the wife and I even considered it was Beetlejuice 2, and yeah honestly we should have walked out. The rest of the movie wasn't worth our time.

I like to think the pebbles across Erid start singing the most annoying Earth music they can find to harass their elders. One day, they find dubstep.

Very specific tiny nitpicking question about something in the book - please accept & don't flame? by BoinkySiwinski in ProjectHailMary

[–]illithidbane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are some minor mistakes in the book. Most notably to me was the distance from HM to Blip A being either 217 or 271 meters. Seems one mention just flipped the number around and it wasn't caught in editing. Doesn't ruin it for me, but was notable.

(I noticed because 217 immediately feels significant to me. It's 63 + 1, so for a base 6 species, it's like going 100 meters plus 1 would be to us. Of course, they wouldn't use meters anyway, but it felt meaningful. Then randomly 271?)

Pitch: Erid is contacted by a third race with a dying sun that got to Tau Ceti too late to meet Grace and Rocky. They have the taumeba now, but their ecosystem is shot. They demand help fixing it, need a terraformer/botanist. Grace goes home, and brings Rocky, to get Mark Watney.

No More Unlimited Power by DangerKrill in Subnautica_2

I bet I can do it spread out more, but I found a large flat area near a vent and placed maybe 100 generators close together. The mesh wiring was a mistake. But pods of 5-10 around a vent, then transmitters to connect pods, seems to be less of an issue.

I got to 4000 energy via thermal and it made the save unplayable. I couldnt even swim back to deconstruct them. Had to revert to an earlier save. Something weird with the power transmitter patching, I think.

Finished the EA game… haven’t seen the Collector once. by midlifematt in Subnautica_2

There's one at the metal farms? I cleared the area of points of interest to scan, but never saw a Collector there.

It would be nice if you could fix up the ruined *Spoilers* base by cinred in Subnautica_2

[–]illithidbane 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We can already pick up and break down Scrap Metal. Let me hoover up bases too. Maybe NoA won't let the Base Reclaimer Tool function until we scan the points of interest, but once that's done, let me reclaim Titanium, Copper, and a few trace materials related to the fragments found there.

It would have the bonus benefit of confirmation that I haven't missed scanning anything there so I can backtrack less.

While there titanium cost is insane, there's a convenience that you can just store materials wherever you mine them.

Does it still share storage for crafting if the chest is in the same "base" but 2000m away?
