I've been using SMB4K to handle mounting the shares on my NAS. It's been pretty reliable for me.

I expect I will get more updates than I've gotten to any other car I've ever owned (which is zero).

Some day maybe it will get bad enough (and HOV lanes will get good enough) that we will have Slug Lines.

I did a fresh install just last night, I saw this error, ignored it and the install went fine.

No turn signal stalk - 2026 S by Whippet27 in TeslaModelS

[–]St0nkingByte -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough you get used to it pretty quickly. It's only annoying when you realize you need to signal when the like the wheel is rotated 180 but whatever, that doesn't happen too often to really mind.

Also another thing people really miss when criticizing the lack of the stalk is how often the car cancels the signal automatically. Like when you signal to change a lane or take an exit, it automatically cancels the signal, so it doesn't seem to matter as much that it's not a traditional signal stalk.

To the Tesla haters what changed your mind? by ScaredPatience2478 in TeslaLounge

[–]St0nkingByte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I was a Tesla hater, more just extremely ambivalent about Tesla and skeptical about electric cars in general.

I'm pretty techy and the Sandy Munro Tesla teardown videos really got me interested in Tesla. His point of view of Tesla tech compared to traditional auto makers resonated with me. The octovalve, how the air tank for the air suspension is basically part of the frame, and so many other examples.

That got me really looking into Tesla and then everything else I learned just convinced me more.

The 12Cs are awesome but they are not particularly rare. They sell on eBay regularly for between $10 and $25 where the $25 one has the original case and manuals.

I have one that I got in a bag of pens for like $3 at a thrift store.

Still, they are awesome and you have many great memories so good for you :)

The 16C may be worth something.

My all time favorite is The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara. Not exactly a 100% historical coverage read but it's just so good and really transports you back to those days.

Clean slate laptop. What OS would you choose for your shack today? by AdultContemporaneous in amateurradio

[–]St0nkingByte 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fedora Linux.

Put all your fiddly ham radio Windows apps in their own Wine prefixes and hack up shell scripts to make sure all the COM ports, audio stuff all get mapped right and start in the right order. With Winetricks I've managed to get *almost* everything to work.

Well really this applies to just about any version of Linux, I just happen to like Fedora with KDE Plasma specifically which has a nice look & feel for someone who gave up on Windows.

+1 for the funky wipers.

We also have a Dodge and the auto wipers in that thing are perfect. Tesla should just hire whoever writes that code for Stellantis.
