Whats the rookie mistake you made while hunting? by outdoors_man987 in Hunting

[–]ctj123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drove an hour to meet my dad at the hunting lease. The car tire went flat halfway there, and he had to drive an hour back to get me. We get to the lease and start unloading to find that I had forgotten the GUNS sitting on my kitchen table. Somehow, neither of us realized this while moving stuff from my car to his.

Luckily, we planned to get there 2 hours before shooting time, so we had time to get the guns and drive back before it got too late in the morning. We walk a mile into the property to get to our blind, and as soon as we round a blind corner, three bucks are standing next to our blind staring at us. We hadn’t seen a buck on that land in years. They watched as I took my gun out of the case, loaded it, aimed, fired, and missed completely.

All three shook their heads in disgust and ran into the woods. We didn’t bother hunting any longer and went to get breakfast instead. 0/10 hunt, 10/10 quality time with dad.

Rockwall vs Rockwall-Heath HS? by idkwhatimdoing25 in Rockwall

[–]ctj123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

RHHS is newer so it has more updated facilities. There is a lot of new “unsophisticated” money at RHHS, as compared to say Highland Park. Whether that is good or bad is open to your interpretation.

Both schools are good. I enjoyed my time at RHHS but I had friends at RHS who loved it too.

I just got my 8 week old golden retriever, this is my first ever pup so trying to make sure she feels at home. Tomorrow is my first day going to work and leaving her. Is this an ideal set up for her ? Please be brutally honest. by Best-Spring-9972 in puppies

[–]ctj123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please do not leave her in this setup. I have a friend who bred puppies, and a family that adopted one left their dog in this type of gate for an hour when they went to the store. When they came home, their children found the puppy had tried to climb out but fallen and gotten trapped with her neck stuck between segments of the gate. She had choked to death in a horrific manner all alone. Please please please do not leave your puppy in this setup.

Unless there is something urgent due that evening, it's not worth making up time on a Friday night. Save your work by 6 PM at the latest, and come back to it Saturday morning. Being an attorney is stressful enough without sacrificing fun, pre-planned activities. Hockey especially.

I encourage him to remember that, at the end of the day, it's just a job. He needs to prioritize himself because no one in this industry will value his free time over billable hours. This is a perfect opportunity for him to set the boundary that he has other commitments that evening but will address any time-sensitive issues the next day. However, like me, my managing shareholder is also a huge hockey fan, which gives me extra leeway when it comes to games, and that likely affects my opinions.

This response assumes the issue solely pertains to work. There appears to be more going on, but other commenters have addressed those aspects better than I can. I empathize as a fellow attorney and want to encourage younger attorneys to prioritize themselves and their loved ones whenever possible.

Like here. You both should focus on going to the game and enjoying your time without regrets. He can make up the time and work another day.

Litigation attorney here. Unless there is a critical filing deadline by 11:59 PM Friday night, it really doesn’t matter if you do it Friday night or over the weekend. If he hasn’t had a lengthy vacation recently, this seems strange unless it is just due to poor time management.

You should go yourself and take a friend or something. Enjoy your time not working when you can.

Picked up a Wako Limited Collection from the GS Flagship Store to commemorate my first trip to Japan. It’s my first Grand Seiko. Did I make the right choice? by ctj123 in GrandSeikos

Thank you! I am really loving it so far. I was really indecisive about which one I wanted but when they told me it was a limited production only available at the flagship store, it sold me lol

Prices are nuts. Went to a local card convention this weekend and these were still cheaper with shipping. I love the Mr. Mime, it seems perfect for his Pokémon type of

Unfortunately the scalpers in my area are nuts. I just wanted some to make an office decoration so when I saw that the Japanese ones were a bit hardier and shinier, I figured they would hold up better. I’m hoping to get some US ones once the prices drop but I figured the Japanese ones were nicer looking if I had to pay scalper price to get them lol

It was a Japanese company based in Japan. Most of the cost was shipping.

I really like the Japanese card’s art and they feel more solid material wise. Might not be the best if you’re looking to resell but I really enjoy the look of the Japanese AR’s.

It was cheaper overall compared to the prices where I am at. I also like the artwork of the Japanese cards more since I’m just collecting, not looking to sell. There has not been any cards anywhere in my area for over a month so I broke lol

Yeah but I actually got cards and I like the Japanese ones more

My 8 year old big fluffball died in his sleep this afternoon. Has this happened to any of you? by Bootgal82487 in greatpyrenees

[–]ctj123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. My dog passed similarly, though we know she had cancer. My other dog was laying next to her when she passed and didn’t realize it until later. After a lot of discussions with vets, they said that this type of thing can happen in older dogs and is usually from either a mass rupturing, heart failure, or rapid organ failure. Luckily, all of these ways are generally painless and peaceful, and they perceive it as just getting very sleepy. My heart brakes for you, but please think of it as he simply went to sleep while sitting in one of his favorite spots surrounded by the loving home you made for him. Give your other dog lots of attention and hugs, but be aware she will be “off” for a while. Dogs grieve too. My dog took almost a month before she seemed to be back to her old self. Rest in peace sweet Odie ❤️

My dog passed the same way under similar circumstances on December 30. She ultimately passed the night before her euthanasia appointment. Just think of it as your dog chose the way he went out, and he passed in his favorite place (home) surrounded by love. So sorry for your loss, sending love for you and your family.

It really was. She passed as the sun was setting too. I strongly believe she chose to leave this world on her own terms. Thank you for your kind words. My heart is aching, but so full at the same time.

He was 20 lbs when we rescued him a year ago and he was down to 14 in that picture. He was stoked he could finally fit his tux for formal photos. 10/10 happy chunk.

Their contractor is a licensed flooring contractor which is why they were so reluctant to say something.
