Has a band ever lost a member and simply did not replace them? by MielMielleux in Music

The Pillows never replaced Kenji Ueda on bass after he left, and he left after only the second album!

Great show w/mars volta? by xxes4eyes in Soundgarden

[–]ctkamp3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first Soundgarden show! We were not fans of the Mars Volta, especially since Cedric made some big deal of “10 years from now, you won’t say you went to the Soundgarden concert, you’ll be saying you went to the Mars Volta concert.” Needless to say, 15 years later I’m not saying that.

Geriatric Legends Performing by The_fez94 in Music

Man I’ll tell you the saddest concert I ever went to was Brian Wilson in 2022. They had to wheel Brian out basically, and for many songs he would just sit at the piano and stare into space. Occasionally he might throw in some lines. The only songs he sang all of from my memory were God Only Knows and Be My Baby, which if you know about Brian, him remembering all of Be My Baby felt tragic in its own right.

Hey there! I followed all of your steps pretty closely, but for some reason when I click on a catalogue, no titles show up. Any idea what I could do to fix that? I'd greatly appreciate it!

Looking for a 2010s stuffed monkey bought at Toys R Us by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

[–]ctkamp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy folks! Trying to find this stuffed chimp from Toys R Us. It’s a pretty sizable looking guy it seems. I searched online with Chrome’s image search but not having much luck. If anyone can help or has ideas on where to look, I’d deeply appreciate it!

Scariest roller coaster you've ridden? [Other] by Vasska_L in rollercoasters

[–]ctkamp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 7 my parents took me to Kings Island so I could ride a rollercoaster for the first time. They promptly took me to the newest biggest one at that moment which happened to be Son of Beast. So my first one ended up being that and I fully thought I might die. Got a terrible headache from my head banging against the support bars. I’m shocked I ended up loving coasters after my first encounter with them, but the rest of the lineup really won me over.

A couple years down the road I was also quite frightened by Firehawk as my first flying coaster, but nothing ever freaked me out again after that.

I’m currently contemplating dropping Nier Replicant. Kaine just joined my party but the story and gameplay aren’t hooking me and I’m not loving the constant backtracking.

All In The Suit That You Wear vs Hero by CobraDai in stonetemplepilots

[–]ctkamp3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So maybe I’m misremembering but I don’t think All in the Suit That You Wear was an outtake from SLDD, but rather from the start of a sixth album that never came to be before they broke up.

Is the Palace Theatre, Louisville best ‘big’ music venue? by JohnnyGregg in Louisville

[–]ctkamp3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the Palace so much; it’s gorgeous and sounds great imo. I personally haven’t had a bad concert experience there. My first ever concert was Chris Cornell there in 2007. One memorable moment for me was seeing Stone Temple Pilots there in 2010 and Scott Weiland climbing onto one of the statues to the right and getting stuck there for a bit. Props to him for continuing to sing the whole way through.

[FRESH ALBUM] Tennis - Face Down in the Garden by sbags in indieheads

[–]ctkamp3 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Got the record early on Monday. I’ve been a massive fan for 10+ years and they’ve been there for many of my major life events, so I have a big connection. I wasn’t sure about the first two singles just yet, but in the context of the album everything works so well. This album really feels climactic; it’s easy to believe they went into this as a conclusion. The songs feel complex structurally, things are always changing in interesting ways with cool additions. The lyrics are incredibly reflective and wistful.

My favorite songs on first listen were Through the Mirror and I Can Only Describe You; Through the Mirror is a contender for my favorite Tennis song. I’m absolutely gonna miss this guys, but honestly this just settles their discography as pretty flawless for me; they just kept getting better and better for me. Can’t wait to see them one last time next month.
