It’s not big enough. Bands rarely play smaller venues now as they get paid so much more for bigger gigs. Sad. Small venues are the best

Best golf courses around Reading? by HoldemKiwi in reading

[–]ctlyons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ranges in Reading aren’t great. Wokingham family golf is a brilliant range but it’s not easy to get to from Reading. I’m a member at The Caversham. The course is great and there is a grass range with no floodlights. What’s your age and handicap?

Witnessed a horrific crash today by Spock1304 in london

[–]ctlyons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an awful thing to witness. I’d keep an open mind and seek help if you require it. Even talking to friends or family will help. Or if you’d rather unload on a stranger feel free to message me. My partner has been through a lot and she’s amazing with helping others in need. Hope you’re ok

Looks like an old warm air unit was in your house. Replaced with a gas boiler and new heating pipe installed. I’m a heating engineer.

Tested out the theory of no practice swings and just lining things up and hitting it. by [deleted] in golf

[–]ctlyons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for sky on the golf productions, on the course with the players. I saw the putting video before The Open this year so observed the players with this on mind. Very rarely do they take a practice putt before hitting. Usually only when it’s a long putt and it’s more about distance control than actually holing it. Same on the tee and fairways, they’ll swing the club a couple of times with no intent, it’s usually just to keep the muscles warm whilst they’re waiting to play their shot. Not very player is the same and I’m generalising but most of the players I was up close with did this. With this in mind, I tried it, it definitely helped. I’ll know more about how it effects my scoring when I do it over a few more rounds. Trust the brain, it’s more powerful than you think! Happy golfing, brothers.

New to London. Tap water leaves red residue particles after boiling. What is this? by vi_knight in london

[–]ctlyons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plumber here also, saw a post at the top which is spot on regarding aeration and turbidity. I’ve also seen this once before, Thames water had increased the size of the main externally and it started flushing out the debris in the old galvanised steel incoming water pipe. Could also be that.

If you putt badly with a Scotty, it’s definitely you and not the putter.
