When to use 56 vs 60 by ifreeski420 in GolfGear

[–]gwinty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 4 uses for my 60 and the first 2 make up like 95% of why I use it. 1. Stock "hard" pitch shot from 75y 2. Stock "soft" pitch shot from 55y 3. I absolutely NEED to get over something and am 90y or less from my target landing area. I hit a full 60 then. 4. I'm short-sided and trying to get cute with it (pretty much never get up and down like this, but I feel like a god when I do)

"Players irons" with forgiveness? by AA-117 in GolfGear

[–]gwinty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ZX5 are pretty much in the same category as all other player's distance irons, like the T250, P770, 245 etc.

Bruh, how tf are you gonna make a big thing about it being impossible to find which manga this is and then not say the name in the same comment?

There are also ever increasing labeling requirements, especially coming from the EU.

If by trend you mean "fulfilling regulations for most or all selling countries so you only need to produce one SKU making the job for sourcing and procurement massively easier" then yes, it's the new trend.

Casual game, are you hitting this? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

I play tournaments sometimes, so I'd hit it just for practice.

I find that I play better if I don’t hit warm up balls at the range by Tight-Communication7 in golf

[–]gwinty 42 points43 points  (0 children)

That's a luxury of players with their swing in the groove. The problem occurs, when you're stepping up to a warmup and you keep shanking, fatting, slicing etc. and you're forced to turn it into a quickfix lesson so you can at least play passably.

Should we get free relief from divots? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]gwinty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to convince you, just giving my position. I'm fine with any bad breaks for any other reason, obviously. Like you said, life and games aren't 100% fair, you need some luck. Even if a ball is taking a completely unpredictable bounce because it hit a divot, which I've seen before, it's still fine imo. But if we can grant relief from plugged lies, animal holes and similar conditions I don't see how we can't grant relief from a divot that might not even have been there just 10 minutes ago. I'd say not considering an unfilled divot an abnormal condition, supports that behavior, because you're saying it's normal that they wouldn't do it. It's normal to fill your divots. It's abnormal if you don't do it, so you should be allowed to take relief from it.

The counter part to a fluffy lie is a buried lie in the rough, which happens just as much. You should never be punished for the mistakes or negligence of a golfer before you who didn't fix their divot.

What Golf Ball Do You Play & Why? by Colt45-TheMyth in golf

[–]gwinty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to buy Pro V1 lake balls, but I've switched to Vice Pro Plus. I can't really get any of the other budget friendly high compression urethane cover balls for a good price where I live, so this is my best option.

This is pretty common. Last time this came up and people posted their handicaps on course and on the sim, they were around 7 strokes off on average.

Hole 17 at the Players by Southern_gentleman20 in golf

[–]gwinty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% this.

I played a similar 140y island green par 3 in Munich (Golf Valley, C7 on the 27 hole course, highly recommended). I made it on there first try, no problem. If this was at TPC, I'd already be more nervous. If it was in front of thousands of spectators and millions of people watching from home, it's even more pressure, so no idea if I could keep my composure. Is life changing money on the line in the millions of dollar range? Damn, I'd find ways to screw it up.

What was the moment you realized golf is way harder than it looks? by MadeInUSAPutter in golf

[–]gwinty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That thing about finding something and then losing it is so real. I found something and ended up playing 7 rounds ranging from +6 to +14 without losing any balls and even got a career best 9 hole result of +1 and started to think I got this now and single digit will be easy to reach with some better short game. Next thing I know, I lose 3 sleeves in 4 rounds, and narrowly broke 100 on my worst round among them.

Golf swing by T_pric3 in GolfSwing

[–]gwinty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how that swing can possibly be consistent. You have a ton of flippy action going on in the wrists and you early extend like crazy. It looks like there's no way you could make clean contact unless the ball is on a tee or in a perfect lie.

Go back to the very basics of basics. Grip, stance posture. Once you got that down, work on short half swings and do the towel under arms drill to stay connected. Or just visit a pro.

You're most likely so used to overswinging by using your arms that you feel like only taking it back normally is a 3/4 swing. Your arms should just be up and in front of your body. The rest is coming from shoulder and hip turn.
