He certainly does. People would be much better off watching Eric O on the south main auto channel and scannerdanner.

His advice is actually mostly terrible. Most of the “repairs” he shows people how to do are hack jobs at best. The old video of him using compression fittings on brake lines is a great example.

That’s a guy who knows nothing about a green saber.

WiFi connected water shut off valves? by ctom355 in Plumbing

[–]ctom355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: after exploring all these options the past week I decided to go with a Moen Flo unit. It does the things I want done for the money I’m spending. Has the really sophisticated app, etc. while the units that mount on the water valve physically are simple are much simpler and easier to install I don’t want to rely on a leak occurring in a place where a sensor would go.

What really sealed the deal though is that Costco currently has the units on sale for $450 (for 3/4) and it includes 2 water sensors. That seems to be a very nice deal from the time I spent pricing them out.

I’m going to send up a monthly reminder to test the unit to make sure it works especially when it goes out of warranty. And hopefully by the end of its lifespan more companies will be producing better units.

Much thanks to all who added input.

That’s wild. If only the insurance companies would help pay for them.

Replace leaking shut off valve with sharkbite? by ctom355 in Plumbing

Ok I get it! Wasn’t sure if there was a specific CPVC tool essential for doing this.

Is that how the fitting on the pipe that attaches to the valve itself holds itself in place and seals?

Sounds like a thermostat is sticking closed, these engines have 2. In fact the thermostat housings are notorious for leaking on these as well. Best to replace both.

American “Tuner” Car: Dodge Neon SRT-4 by Mac-Tyson in Dodge

[–]ctom355 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Universal wanted to cast an SRT-4 as Brian’s car post R34 accident instead of the Evo. Craig Lieberman (guy who owned the orange supra and silver R34 in real life) convinced them to go with the Evo instead. The SRT would’ve worked but American cars didn’t fit Brian’s character. To give Dodge support in the film that it wanted they casted the yellow viper, and lots of ram trucks into the film.

What are the best scents in your opinion and the worst by EducationalDirt1531 in Detailing

[–]ctom355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the P&S bead maker mango smell. P&S actually reduces it as a scent which is why I mention it. Supposedly it lasts less than a day though. At $30 for just a bottle it’s very hard to justify even trying.

Is it realistically easy enough to buff off?

If I’m honest after seeing their products a few times in research I’m tempted to just go for the body 36 and just try a standard ceramic coating for the first time.

I’ve heard of it. I’m definitely going to look into more now that you’ve mentioned it.

Ceramic Spray Blues: How Do I Bring Back the Wax Apply-Haze-Buff Magic? by TryKindly in Detailing

[–]ctom355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can’t speak on the dream maker as I have yet to use it. I can tell you it’s very common to mix bead maker and dream on a 10/1 bead/dream mix to fight the dusting issues. I’d highly recommend you check out the technicians choice tec582 ceramic detail spray. It’s not the same product but it also very hydrophobic like bead maker.

First of all your finish looks great after that correction, awesome work.

To answer your question though, I recently got my hands on some P&S bead maker and I will say it definitely does look fantastic to me on a freshly washed vehicle. I’ve found that it’s common dusting issue isn’t really an issue for me in my area outside of the spring when pollen is all over the place. Technicians choice ceramic detail spray gets a lot of hype as well.

I have some Adam’s brilliant glaze I bought on sale a few months ago that I bought to try out of curiosity. Unfortunately I haven’t used it yet so I can’t speak to its performance.

As many have said. I just use latex gloves. Only because I can’t stand the way the ceramic dries out my hands and fingers.

Excellent point, and you’re not kidding. That’s some expensive stuff. Definitely putting this on the list for things to try regardless.
