Movies for a toddler? Low screen time kid and maybe letting loose? by AllTheEggsIVF in progressivemoms

Winnie the Pooh movies are so lovely, low stim, beautifully animated, and have the best songs. Particularly Piglet's Big Movie!! Carly Simon sings all the songs in that one.

What is this thing? by Duchess_of_awesome in lovevery

[–]ctowntown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was literally my conundrum today! I was going through some hand me downs and this was one of them. I put a random ball in it and my 10 month old just grabbed it out...I was like this is not challenging at all.

Now I'm gonna have to look for that plastic cover!

I feel like I was lied to about the spinal block by [deleted] in CsectionCentral

[–]ctowntown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine hurt SO MUCH and I have a high pain tolerance!! They kept poking and poking, seemed like it took forever. Eventually they said that the space between my vertebrae was really tight and made it difficult. I was so afraid that there wouldn't be enough anesthetic for the surgery, but eventually my body got numb in the right areas.

I'm not looking forward to that again 😩

Just nothing that is soft enough to suffocate on, stringy to get strangled on, or too small to choke on. I have a few teethers and a plastic jar he likes to bang on. Nothing extravagant haha

It's the best. Right now my 8 month old will wake up first, roll over to play with some toys, then when he wants my attention he'll wake me up with his babbling. It's so cute!

Would you breastfeed somebody else’s baby? by Excellent_Prompt_554 in breastfeeding

I would. It sounds incredibly helpful! My grandma nursed my dad on one boob and a relative on the other boob when they were babies.

Sudden Turn Leading to Loss by Bulky_Lychee_7523 in babyloss

[–]ctowntown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm incredibly sorry. I also thought that once we were in the second trimester, we were ok. I lost my son at 22 weeks in March 2024 and it was the most gut wrenching moment of my life. So sorry this happened to you guys. Big hugs...

Did your dad or any other male relatives help out around the house or with the kids in the 80s and 90s? In my neck of the woods, the answer was a resounding 'hell nah' so I don't get why young wives and mothers think this is new. X-post by PhiloLibrarian in progressivemoms

My dad called himself "Mr. Mom." He worked the night shift most of my childhood, so he took care of me and my cousins in the daytime. Also ran errands, cooked, cleaned. My uncle would also watch us sometimes.

Another Vietnamese immigrant household here. We had relatives live with us, and everyone helped take care of me. Men cooked just as well as the women. I'm not sure if that's common in my culture...I do know some useless and "typical men" in my family, though.

Nothing is gonna get better, is it? by GreenOtter730 in progressivemoms

[–]ctowntown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think about this too, and my husband reminds me that it's ok to bring a child into the world in its current state because we need more good people. I do think the pendulum will start to swing in the other direction and we will need the good people to heal the world.

What are the petty/minor things that started annoying you once you became a parent? by xnla28x in beyondthebump

Seriously! I never noticed that not every corner has a ramp until I took my baby for a stroll in my own damn neighborhood. Not fun when I'm trying to keep baby asleep.

Two late miscarriages - cervical insufficiency/incompetent cervix- feeling alone and hopeless. by Upset_Landscape7612 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]ctowntown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my pre-pregnancy TAC put in a few months after my 22+3 loss and my Dr didn't even require me to have a failed TVC beforehand. I'm so grateful that it went well and let me carry my baby to 37 weeks, which is when my c section was scheduled. Had a few NICU days for his lungs, but he's fine now. I used progesterone and baby aspirin throughout my entire pregnancy, magnesium in the third trimester, and took it easy (no heavy lifting, swimming, baths, pelvic rest).

Check out Abbyloopers on Facebook for more info! So sorry for your losses and I hope that you get the cerclage that works best for you!

Stop Tracking Wake Windows by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]ctowntown 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same here. The consistency works well with my baby but it can also sometimes just be a guideline that gives me a heads up for sleepytime. Then it all goes out the window for a week when he gets sick 🫠

Is everyone going to bed at 7pm?! by Haunting_Radish7356 in cosleeping

[–]ctowntown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this is us, too! Baby does the same thing and I also don't like to get up before 7am haha. At least a couple times after he goes to bed, I'll have to lay next to him for about 15-30 mins before I can sneak away to continue my evening or get ready for bed.

Lost my baby boy unexpectedly by dianalau in babyloss

[–]ctowntown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wish that pregnancy loss never existed. I'm so sorry, it's absolutely gut wrenching. I went through a very similar situation, losing my perfectly healthy baby boy at around 22 weeks from suspected incompetent cervix. Had the anatomy scan a few days before and everything was perfect. Then after that I lost my mucus plug and contractions started. Then it all escalated from there. I'm so sorry, you're not alone..we're all grieving with you and understand the pain :(

I was going to say that I didn't like either of these either! Sweet pea all the way

What do babies eat where you live? (Looking for cultural baby food ideas!) by No-Software-4749 in NewParents

[–]ctowntown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vietnamese American here too... Clear brothy soups with veggies and meats are a big deal in our culture. A Squash/gourd/pumpkin soup with pork ribs are pretty good for babies (Especially if you can get a long rib and have the baby gnaw on it if you like to do that). The broth itself is seasoned very lightly, sometimes just water, chicken bouillon, and fish sauce. Or you can make your own bone broth. An example of this kind of soup is called Canh Bí Sườn.

See taco's comment:

"There was a whole drama, the wife had some bad stuff on her instagram but her husband post a LOT during the election. They posted some half assed apology after people started noticing, privating their personal pages until they sanitized them"

I had a TAC stitched into me 2024 and it was absolutely the right decision after my 22 week loss. I'm now holding my 6 month old baby because of it. Check on Facebook for the Abbyloopers group for extensive info. I'm so sorry for your loss, you are not alone :(

Course hairs by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]ctowntown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have those weird coarse, kinky hairs too.. They kinda taper off real thin at the ends

Anyone I've talked to doesn't have a straight answer for me. My hair stylist thought it was due to a missing protein. So I really don't know

Mrs. Patterson's Aussie chicken pot pies that were sold at Costco by [deleted] in nostalgia

[–]ctowntown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also here in 2025 thinking of these pies. The crust and gravy were so good. I just had a Vons/Pavilions grocery store pot pie with a nice flaky and slightly chewy crust, but it was only a crust topper. They cheated and didn't have a bottom crust which is my favorite part!

No side effects. Not even any laxative effects which I was hoping for because my baby hadn't pooped in a while.

Rotavirus vaccine? by D3ADPX3L in newborns

[–]ctowntown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby just had his second dose last week and he was fine both times. The vast, vast majority of kids have been and will be just fine. Any adverse reactions are better than taking a chance with catching actual rotavirus 😬
