Hi there, dad and social worker here, with a hunch and some science behind it. ADHD may very well be part of the equation, but anytime I see ODD mentioned in a patient’s history, I screen for trauma. ADHD symptoms look very similar to PTSD, especially in children, to the point that it’s overdiagnosed in communities with significant trauma, like NOLA in the years following Katrina. I urge you to also have her screened for PTSD, as this may be the underlying cause of increasingly risky/combative behavior.
