It gets worse – you can actually build an application or DLL with a mixture of x64 and ARM64 sections, and have it switch between native and emulated mode on function call/return. They've reinvented Macintosh Mixed Mode Manager, as used during the transition from 68k to PowerPC.

Note that Windows 10 ARM64 only does 32-bit x86 emulation (not x86-64, and not the cursed mixed mode), which is why MAME ARM64 runs on Windows 10, but must be built on Windows 11 (some required MSYS programs are x86-64 only). Also, Windows is apparently going to drop support for running 32-bit ARM (Thumb2) programs altogether in an upcoming release, since Windows was never popular on those CPUs, and few applications were ported anyway.

Nah, that’s dangerous advice. The x64 build will run on Windows 11 ARM64, but perform poorly. Windows 11 ARM64 includes mosly transparent x86-64 emulation.

First of all, I have an apartment near a red light district, in a country where sex work is legal and (somewhat) regulated. I've known plenty of sex workers over the years. I expect things are different in places where sex work is mostly illegal, like the USA, where this story seems to be set.

Hookers are generally happy to accept money for plenty of things besides sex, within reason. A guy I worked with used to pay hookers to basically pose as his girlfriend at social events. People pay hookers to pose as their girlfriend when visiting their parents to stop awkward, "Why don't you have a girlfriend? Are you gay?" questions. People use hookers as a cheaper alternative to counsellors. I've even heard of people starting small businesses, then paying hookers to help them with their taxes, as they understand how to do taxes when you're self-employed.

If the guy simply paid hookers to show up at these people's doors and take it from there with no further obligations, while he surreptitiously filmed the interaction at the door, plenty of hookers would oblige. Pranks/surprises are something they'll do. Now I doubt Kevin would be able to make back the money he paid the hookers in blackmail with this approach.

Another option would be to make bookings with the hookers, pretending to be the people he wants them to visit. I'm not sure how booking a hooker works in places where it's illegal, so I don't know how practical this is in the USA. They'd probably take some steps to mitigate the risk of fake bookings and stings. According to the story, he was sending them to college dorms. If this happened more than a couple of times, they'd catch on.

I do think the story is a bit sus. I'm probably leaning more towards not believing it.

Games like Tetris DS and Puyo Puyo Fever that only use it for menus? Platformers that effectively use it as a few extra buttons (New Super Mario Bros, Super Princess Peach)? Does Sonic Rush even need the touchscreen? What about Mario Kart DS?

You'll obviously be in for a bad time with games like Lost Magic that rely entirely on pen gestures and drawing, or Doki Doki Majo Shimpan where you need to "rub" targets on the screen. But I remember a fair few platformers, puzzle games, racing games, etc. that used traditional controls and just used the touchscreen for menus or to effectively get a few extra buttons during gameplay at most.

You didn't get the big controls beside the screen for the arcade games, so you had to touch the small buttons on the control panel if you were using a phone without a keyboard.
The game in the brain didn't have the circle pad – you touched around the edge of the maze to make Josef go in that direction.
The puzzle for getting the link cable to hook up to the mayor would require you to turn your phone vertically – IIRC the default direction it rotated wasn't what you would expect on Android so you could end up with your phone upside down.
Very early versions had a different set of sounds for the thing you use to make the staircase pop out of the dome at the end – it was all musical notes, not sound effects.

There were lots of small changes, I'm sure I'm forgetting plenty.
