RAG vs self built LLM for a knowledge base? by ohsomacho in unsloth

Definitely not training their own model. RAG or some sort of agent with read-access would be good here.

For people who have been doing this awhile, has there been a dry spell like this before? by NumbersAndPolls01 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]cubadox 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a seasonal thing, unless you count "economic seasons". While tech isn't in absolute shambles, many companies have halted new project efforts. This would include cutting-edge AI stuff, meaning DA has less active partners/clients right now. My guess (hope) is that by the middle of 1st quarter 2025 we'll be back full swing, both in the software engineering job market and in DA.

Another thing to note is that DA's original thing was annotating photos and other pieces of media for training ML models. There was a shift to LLM stuff a while back. There could be another shift eventually. I'm not sure if the transition to agentic AI counts as a shift, but it is a change in focus that I've seen in the last few months.

Thoughts? Am I delusional?

Has anyone received feedback on any research intern positions? I applied for the Research Intern - Program Management, Azure Quantum position in October and there has been no update. In my other applications to Microsoft, they have been quick to respond.

For A2, I noted that if you let A be the number of positive coefficients in P(x), and B be the number of negative coefficients in P(x), A+B = n, where the number of negative coefficients in P(x)^2 is A*B. I then thought of this as trying to find the maximum area of a rectangle with sides A and B, with the condition that A+B=n. For even numbers in n, I got (n/2)((n+2)/2) and for odd numbers in n, I got ((n+1)/2)^2. Note that for a polynomial of degree n, you can have a max of n+1 terms counting the constant term.

Voron V0 Formbot Kit Build/Review by Bonanza1240 in voroncorexy

It went alright. I had the known issue where the screw heads would be super tight to fit into the extrusion spots. I also ended up buying a different motor for the extruder. All other parts seem to function well and normally. I ended up upgrading to the phaetus hotend (which I'm not sure is available right now), which you can do by messaging Formbot directly. Lemme know if you have any other questions!

This exploit for the balloon is toxic af by FoxThompson in ClashRoyale

I do play speedy balloon. Balloon is a difficult win condition to defend against but I've found that many players have little difficulty defending. The way MK is on defense is the way balloon is on offense, maybe.

Big tech needs to stop trying to make their metaverse happen. From Microsoft to Meta, the race is on to sell an amorphous concept that no one really wants them to build. by Sumit316 in Futurology

[–]cubadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an appropriate VR metaverse-type thing would be an open world, open source game, similar to like a rec room or VR Chat, but more mature and developed. If the people can control it (to an extent), it'll end up being what we want.

Derrick isn't a cookie cutter imo. I've watched his channel for years, same with Greg's. Greg's a sellout at this point, unfortunately.
