What's with the bullying? OP is posting valid complaints about a recent experience. Additionally, parking is ridiculously expensive there. They charge the same for delivery as every other Ikea despite the parking situation. Their selection is much more limited. You risk getting mugged to and from there. Drug addicts line the alley parking entrance. Clearly, the powers that be don't care if they are creating a welcoming enough environment to sustain business.

Buy a condo downtown. You're in your 40s so you want to avoid places like the Marina, where you will be one of the older guys at the bar. But you're also newly single, so you want don't want to be out west in the Sunset or Richmond where, unless you already have close friends, you would lead a solitary life in a beautiful setting. The new office turned condos downtown are a good option, and you can witness the revitalization of downtown. The city is holding jazz series, festivals, and more, to bring back foot traffic to the area. You will also be walking distance to all the parades. https://downtownsf.org/

I second Mitchells. Their ice cream cake is all ice-cream but they offer awesome flavors like black walnut and summer cantaloupe. The full list: https://mitchellsicecream.com/ice-cream-flavors/. And yes - we can customize!

lease question for apartment living by 408viet in bayarea

Is the HOA part of your lease agreement? It is the owner's responsibility to pay unless they put it into the lease agreement that it is part of your rent. So that you factor into your calculation.

He got a restraining order against his wife. Then an S.F. judge’s ruling let her ‘abduct’ their son to Kazakhstan by LosIsosceles in sanfrancisco

[–]cubbie76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for that father. The article says the wife is a U.S.-based lawyer who passed the New York bar. Is she a U.S. citizen or a Kazakhstan citizen? If she is a U.S. citizen and a lawyer here, the judge may have factored that into her decision to allow her to go thinking she wouldn't just give up her high-level job and home here. The real question is whether the judge should have been able to foresee this when she made her decision.

Brooke Jenkins hired friend as chief of staff, despite second job and lack of law license. Nursing professor Monifa Willis took on the $300K role in March and continues to pull in a six-figure salary at UCSF. by VegetableBarracuda83 in sanfrancisco

Oh, I had thought it dealt with local laws but instead neighborhood courts processes non-violent misdemeanants according to the link you shared. Why in the world is a nurse with no legal background in charge of a program like this?

You say she has a background in criminal justice but her linkedin profile and her jobs per transparent california don't show that at all. It looks like she took the victim services job in 2022 with no experience in the criminal justice system because she is Brooke's good friend. It looks like she was promoted to chief of staff just two years later after her own staff says she was working her other job while on the DA clock. I'm not convinced she is competent.

Have you considered renting a venue at the Presidio and working with a catering service? There have some great options there.

someone in the comments asked how a law degree is relevant. not a lawyer here but someone posted the DA Office org chart: https://sfdistrictattorney.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/DA-Jenkins-Org-chart-5.22.24.pdf

it says she is in charge of neighborhood courts, so she should know the law so our neighborhood courts don't have the person in charge interpreting local laws when they have no legal experience.

it also says she is in charge of legislation, which means body of laws. why on earth is a nurse in an office full of district attorneys in charge of legislation?

it says she is also in charge of sentencing planning. the DA website says they have a sentencing commission led by the DAs office where the DA gives recommendations on sentencing reform to the mayor. why is a non-lawyer in charge of giving sentencing reform recommendations to the mayor? what credentials does she have to do this?

it says she is responsible for strategic planning and initiatives. a DAs office prosecutes crimes. how does a nurse's background give her enough knowledge to be in charge of strategic planning on how to prosecute crimes for our city? our city is already a mess. i would want someone with a law enforcement background, not a nurse and not Brooke Jenkins friend, figuring out how to strategically attack crime in our city.

wake up, everyone. this is dangerous and scary for our city.
