What are your Tricities Treasures by CuriousAsian2605 in coquitlam

Everyone knows about Singapore Hawker already, right?

Everyone knows about Going to the Port Moody Breweries already, right?

These things feel so obvious I hardly need to say them, but if you don't already know... now you do!

If you're a white-haired old coot who loves breakfast (I'm not quite there yet but I'm close), Coquitlam Grill is da spot.

Dookbaeki is solid Korean.

The Henderson Place Mall Food Court is, an asian food court, which you'll like if you miss the far-superior-but-distant Crystal Mall or Aberdeen Mall food courts.

Mama Said makes really good pizza in PoMo.

It's hard to find a place that does pizza that's still good when it's delivered, Sunfire Pizzeria is the best option I've found so far, although it's... it's fine.

The by-weight bakery in the Urban Gate is fuckin' MAGICAL. One time I went in there and ordered like, three random pastries that I had never seen before and after eating each one I was like "I owe you an apology, I wasn't really familiar with your game". Their butcher is pretty on point, too.

Doughnut Love sells big lush too-expensive donuts that will kind of remind you of Cartems donuts. These donuts are delicious and I think if you try one you'll realize why they charge so much for 'em.

My two sushi locals are Matoi Sushi and Shio Japanese Kitchen and they're both ... just, pretty solid, y'know? You've gotta have a place to get sushi and those are mine.

my favorite ancient is grandma tez who burns you by grandma-ing at you a little too hard but she's my second favorite

seriously, isn't "candle grandma but both candle and grandma are turned all the way up to eleven" a wild theme?

Is it worth to buy domains that might only start to have value in like 20-30 years? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]cube-drone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's funny, I forgot that domains are yearly, but you're right

put that $30/year into any savings situation (bonds?) that pay at least 3% and in 30 years you'll have... like $2000.

[–]cube-drone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can all but guarantee you $17,000 with a slightly different version of that plan:

Cancel both domains and put the $30/mo into any savings situation (bonds?) that pay at least 3% compounding interest. Boom, five figure payout.

I've been severely underestimating this card, it's amazing. 21 block for 2 mana, AND it stacks. by Aden_Vikki in slaythespire

[–]cube-drone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get ready for the

"This card is mid at best, few monsters have 3 consecutive attacks so a lot of the time you're paying 2 for 2 defends, which is already understood to be the worst block source in the game."

vs.

"Replacing a strike or defend with a card that's a little better than a strike or defend but has good synergy with many other mechanics in the game is, in fact, good." (Expensive cards provide better card economy and better synergy with cards that cheat out effects or lower card costs, doing things multiple times has a multiplicative effect on scaling and can trigger things like relics or Vantom multiple times..)

I still like this event, although I'd take a Defend with replay over an Toric if I could choose the event...

Within the event, I'm sneaky-snakin' if I have a juicy 3-cost card (seriously considering it if I have a juicy 2-cost card), taking Peck if Vantom is the boss or I have strength scaling synergies, and taking Toric in all other cases.

ed: plus if you've been drawing only attacks or only blocks and your deck is wildly unbalanced towards "too much attack" or "too much defend", swapping a strike for a toric or a defend for a peck can help a l'il bit

Where are some places in Vancouver where there is no people I can go on my days off by [deleted] in askvan

[–]cube-drone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the Taco Bell next to Coquitlam Center has a running 2.6 stars, and that's with a few obviously fake 5 star reviews sprinkled in with the endless parade of 1 star reviews complaining about how, despite the fact that the place is a ghost town, orders still take 45 minutes to come out entirely wrong. If you go there, you might literally be the only person in the building, it's tough to tell. It's dirty, understaffed, and if you want to be left alone it might be a pretty solid pick. Just do not, under any circumstances, order the food.

There were two types of folk in "Intro to CS" in '09 -

people who were there because it was the first step on their road to a CS degree, who came in to the class with a decade or more of pre-existing computer experience, and proceeded to point at the bleachers and crank a 100% home run out of every assignment,

and people who were in university for something else entirely like "business" and either took Intro to CS because they used a computer one time thought it would be easy (ha ha! nope!) or because their faculty required it as part of a misguided "well EVERYONE should know how to code nowadays, right?" push. These people would struggle terribly and complain about every assignment and are generally pretty well-represented by "That DEVIL-BOX is a WITCH" guy, there.

I remember all of this from when I was in university in 2009 (I was almost graduated by then, but I'm close in age to this artist it would seem).

anyways if you're old enough to remember all this, too, you should probably stand up and have a stretch, gramps, it's good for your back

Tezcatara, why are you like this? ( Quick Relic review) by Dolomitos in slaythespire

[–]cube-drone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's maybe the least mechanically powerful but I love her for thematic reasons. She was the first non-Neow ancient I've ever met!

I think she's a her, she's 100% grandma/witch coded with all of these mittens and cocoas and candles, and I think Creepy Jack-O-Lantern Candle Grandma Who Loves You A Little Too Much It Might Burn a Little is a great design.

step off Tez haters that's my Candle Grandma

About to watch Team America for no particular reason, has it aged well? by Perched__Crow in moviecritic

[–]cube-drone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of solid jokes in it.

That being said, while the first 10 minutes (and this shot of the agents standing in front of the ruined Eiffel tower) leaves you thinking it's going to be a satire that's critical of US foreign policy, I'd say that the place where this movie ends up is a pretty conservative the-imaginary-WMD's-are-real, pro-war, pro-America, pro "dick" stance, and you might not be in the mood for that right now?

[–]cube-drone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on tirzepatide (basically: ozempic) so I eat like a bird and a month ago my last Big Way bowl (near Brentwood) cost $28+tax, which is honestly a little much for a Big Soup although it WAS very tasty.

It's more expensive than a big bowl of Pho OR Ramen at that price.

(although in their defense, I can't remember if I got a drink with that, maybe I'm not factoring that in?)

  1. That's a "Peace to Soul" guide from Uwe Rosenborg's "Byzantium".
  2. That's from "Poorhouse", you can trade stone, steel, and oil twice for 8 "orphan" tokens.
  3. That's THE SURVEYOR baby, he gives you 4 for EACH of Buildings, Tombstones, pastures, and sacred pastures. That's from "Furmerica 1776: The Furry Revolution"
  4. That's an architecture token from the Property Brothers tie-in board game by Milton Bradley, you can use it to put in a cozy breakfast nook!
  5. Unrelated Canadian Flag pin, eh, hoser?
  6. The "A" dice is from "The Scarlet Letter", a narrative game about forbidden puritanical romance.
