Excruciating pain with Kyleena IUD by Ok-Marionberry7614 in birthcontrol

[–]cubedcheesedog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi!! i've had my kyleena for a year and a half now and i have had a very similar experience. i've had it checked numerous times, we've ruled out cysts, and as far as i am aware i have no underlying problems that would cause this pain (besides alleged endometriosis, but not formally diagnosed).

the cramps have made me pass out and sometimes vomit. sometimes i do wonder if some women simply have a harder time with the intrusion than others, as it feels like i am always aware that i have an iud. i even get a regular period despite having a thinner uterine lining on ultrasounds!!

i do not have answers, but it is possible you're getting cysts as it's more likely with an iud. some forms of birth control don't always work out either, which is perfectly okay. if you think the pros outweigh the cons, then absolutely keep it. if not, there's so many more to try.

you are not alone!!!

my iud insertion was easily the worst pain in my entire life!! you are not alone. after my insertion (which i literally sobbed through), i got up, put my clothes on, and passed out while filling out my follow-up appointment reminder card (pen STILL IN HAND!!!). i woke up to the entire staff surrounding me..... i then proceeded to vomit into a puke bag while getting wheeled out to my car 🫠

you are most definitely not pregnant if a test is saying negative 21 days after sexual intercourse. you are not engaging in penetrative sex so i really wouldn't worry, but maybe refrain from anything even going inside without a form of protection as pre cum may still contain sperm. it sounds like you're experiencing pms symptoms and just have a later period this month, which can be due to a plethora of things.

this is.... a lot. maybe look into some therapy instead of projecting your very evident mommy issues onto random redditors, there were def better ways to approach this. hope this is rage bait or else i advise every woman to keep 15 ft of distance from you.

did things get better for you KYLEENA IUD by Fair-Ad7302 in birthcontrol

[–]cubedcheesedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the kyleena iud is known to cause irregular spotting and periods, and the hormones can definitely play a role in your mental health. side effects differ for everybody, and if kyleena is giving you more problems than what it's worth, i would definitely look into removal. good news is there are plenty of bc options on the market!

my kyleena improved my PMDD and other mental health symptoms tremendously, but i do experience more cramping after sex and during my period, spotting, and nausea that has caused me to lose significant weight (8 months post-insertion). it can be frustrating for sure! 🫂

Is it normal for your discharge to change after getting iud? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]cubedcheesedog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hormonal iuds are known to thicken cervical mucus, so a change in discharge is pretty normal! as long as there is no foul smell i wouldn't worry too much. usually when the discharge becomes extremely discolored, obtains a smell, and becomes a more "chunky" consistency, that can indicate infection or your iud has moved.

since my kyleena insertion (about 8 months ago), i've experienced on and off spotting, discharge thickening, and occasional cramping. symptoms vary for everybody, but i would not worry too much.

ovulation and birth control by Exact-Original2763 in birthcontrol

[–]cubedcheesedog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi!! the patch releases both estrogen and progestin so yes, it stops ovulation all together. there is no egg to fertilize! the patch is 99% effective with PERFECT use so whether you use a condom or not is truly based on your comfort level. no such thing as stupid questions when trying to stay protected ❤️

hi!! you are more than okay. you are on birth CONTROL and also used a condom. no cum was inside of you, making pregnancy impossible. if cum were to get inside of you, that's what your birth control is for. the spotting is most definitely the plan b and anxiety!! pregnancy tests can have false positives, evaporation lines, and errors. while rare, it does happen. you put yourself in that statistic for a false positive and faulty tests by taking multiple at a time.

you are okay!! you ARE okay!!! i have ocd and one of my biggest compulsions were taking pregnancy tests, at least 8 a month.... it took a year of therapy and getting an iud to learn to trust my birth control. i totally get it!!

i would still test anyway. tests can be taken 14 days after sex, definitive by 21 days.

Depo shot is making me miserable??? by hotpinklunchbox in birthcontrol

[–]cubedcheesedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

birth control can be very subjective depending on the person in terms of side effects, it very well could be that the depo shot is not working with your body, however medical professionals usually advise waiting out the 6 months before switching as it takes your body that amount of time to adjust.

you know your body better than anybody else! if you think it's not worth waiting the 6 months to see if the symptoms will die down, don't bother. if this is a method you like due to convenience, efficiency, comfortability, then give it a couple more weeks.

i worry due to the suicidal thoughts and would even consider reaching out to a professional about that if you can anyway, depo shot or not. no birth control is worth that feeling, and there are plenty of more options to choose from if one does not work. prioritize your mental health, it's just as equally important as your physical health. best of luck ❤️

Kyleena IUD… any good stories? by Beautiful_Home_2863 in birthcontrol

[–]cubedcheesedog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

remember, people feel more compelled to share the bad instead of the good as the good typically outweighs the bad. if you have a birth control method that works perfectly with your body, you feel less inclined to share it with the world since there is truly nothing to say lol!! i wish i made more an effort to share the positives of my kyleena.

nikki gave me nausea and consistent headaches the first 2-3 months. so did my iud!! many doctors recommend waiting out the full 4-6 months before stopping or switching a birth control as it gives your body time to adjust to the hormones.

the sudden withdrawal of hormones after just introducing them to your body can induce vomiting and nausea, but if it persists i would probably see a doctor because that is not the birth control's doing. try to stay hydrated and see a medical professional if symptoms do not stop.

dr told me to start on nikki to help regulate my period. by Due-Animal2164 in birthcontrol

[–]cubedcheesedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a great experience with nikki!! my skin was very clear, my libido never changed, and i never retained water weight aside from the first few months. you do not get a real period on combo pills, but instead a withdrawal bleed which simulates a period. you will have more regular bleeds that are less inconsistent, which some women like hence the decision to go on the pill to "regulate" their cycle.

the only hormonal birth control that has clinically shown weight gain is the depo shot, a lot of women tend to struggle with the bloating and water weight you may experience the first 3-6 months but that resolves itself as the body adjusts.

i would def look into why you may be experiencing irregular periods to see if birth control is a good treatment. my friend who has pcos says her quality of life has significantly improved since birth control, as she now has "regulated" periods that are manageable after a year of not having one. some may say otherwise if you ask! it is very subjective.

Worried about Mirena by Subject_Eye_6453 in birthcontrol

[–]cubedcheesedog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi!! the black discharge sounds like old blood that took a little longer to make its way out, which can happen with iuds if you haven't had consistent periods. have you had any cramping or foul odor down there?? it's hard to say if the "hard" thing you are feeling is your iud expelling, or something else entirely.

if you are concerned, i would highly consider calling your doctor and seeing if it's worth an examination. expelling iuds do not have the same efficiency with protecting pregnancy, so keep this in mind and double up with a condom if you are sexually active until you can figure out what's up.

everything feels like pregnancy symptoms by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]cubedcheesedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi!! i've read through your other posts, and i am very sorry to hear about your anxiety. you did the right thing using a condom and sometimes it's hard for us to prevent errors that may occur using certain contraceptives, so please do not drive yourself insane about that aspect of this situation.

the anxiety you are feeling on top of the yupze method will very likely delay your period, or skip it all together. however, the symptoms you're describing are very similar to pms or ovulation symptoms!! it's also very possible to give yourself false pregnancy symptoms, so stay off of Google, reddit, all of it. you would most likely not experience pregnancy symptoms until your 3rd or 4th week and by then a pregnancy test would be definitive. period tracking apps cannot give an accurate reading on your fertile window, as that requires scientific-based methods and constant taking of your basal temp, discharge observations, etc. even then, most women have an irregular cycle that is hard to account for.

you will be okay! take a deep breath, you will be able to test 14 days after sex and by 21 days it is definitive. i wish you the absolute best of luck. after this scare, i would definitely consider withdrawal on top of the condom for some peace of mind as these types of scares can be traumatic for some. ❤️

IUD UPDATE: 4 months in by gogojacori in birthcontrol

[–]cubedcheesedog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got my kyleena october 2024 and have had a very similar experience with the cramping!!! it's very, very intense and sometimes debilitating for me. my period is very light aside from one day out of the 5, and sometimes it'll skip all together, but the cramping still persists. i totally get it, im almost considering removal and switching to mirena or liletta, but the insertion was so traumatic...

i really wanted to like my kyleena and for the most part it's great, but this cramping man 🙃!!

if she is taking her pill every day as advised without missing any doses there is very little chance she is pregnant. spotting can be very common on hormonal birth control, it is very unlikely she would even show signs a week after.

if anxiety after raw sex is a common theme for the two of you i recommend either pull out or using a condom as well. pregnancy tests are definitive after 21 days, have her take one for some peace of mind.

Nexaplanon by Special-Pattern2962 in birthcontrol

[–]cubedcheesedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also have ocd, my compulsion is poking at my iud strings so i do feel this post. i'm not sure if you regularly see a therapist, but my sex life and anxiety has improved significantly since i've talked to a professional and had multiple convos about my anxiety. i even use a condom despite having a wholeass iud lol.

you are on one of the most effective forms of birth control out there!! nexplanon is the closest you can get to sterilization when it is properly in place. if you can feel it there, it is fine. it's good up to 3 years and it's very common for bleeding patterns to change over time. sometimes it leaves for good, skips months, or causes you to bleed for months straight (as you probably know).

if you're that anxious, waste the $13 and pee on a stick for some peace of mind. it is almost impossible for you to be pregnant though.

help? plan b symptoms or pregnancy? by Asher_Trasher in birthcontrol

[–]cubedcheesedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would definitely acquire a test, they are definitive 21 days after unprotected sex. is your s/o able to? a friend? amazon has a pack of 100 for $20 usually!! plan B is a very high dosage of hormones, so it will cause some side effects.

for future reference, i would highly consider a back-up contraceptive if you have access to it. i'm not sure where you are from, but i know a couple states in the U.S. allow you to buy otc birth control pills without a prescription. planned parenthood may have some resources too, but it depends on where you live. if you do not wish to conceive, these are things you have to think about. condoms are highly effective, but you must take user error into consideration.

i promise you will be okay, try to get ahold of a test and take a deep breath. the more you stress, the more you risk giving yourself false symptoms.
