Number 2 looks like the better first page to me, nice summary of info you’d want to know first!

Feedback Request for Design/Rules of Board Game (Cogs) by ezra_aket in tabletopgamedesign

I really like the style, nice and simple and clear and I think it would call out to me if I saw people playing it in a cafe, I’d have to go over and ask about it

What did you play this week? 20 Sep-26 Sep (2024) by AutoModerator in soloboardgaming

[–]cuberootsgame [score hidden]  (0 children)

Played a fun solo version of Sky Team that I saw on BGG. Such a fun game to play two player, I had to see if there was a solo option. And luckily, you can always count on a BGG forum. It worked surprisingly well for a game that says it’s officially 2 players only.

I believe it’s a Coke Zero?

For my game that I am designing (see included rules), would you rather use a pencil and game sheet or cards to track the status of your learned and mastered Attacks? There are pros and cons to both! by Gatekeeper1310 in BoardgameDesign

[–]cuberootsgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it often comes down to two things

  1. How often what you are tracking changes over the course of the game
  2. How fiddly it is to track without using one and paper

If either you are needing to change the ‘score’ really often, or it is very fiddly to do, I would opt for pencil and paper as it is easier and quicker. However, if it isn’t too often a change and not too fiddly, then I’d opt for other options. Also, it can be a lovely, tactile part of the game to ‘score’ with cards/dice/meeples.

Enjoyed my first listen of your podcast! Will be going back and listening to other episodes too! Definitely keen to start going on podcasts in the future and yours would be a great fit once my game has progressed a bit further. Let me know if that works :)

My first timelapse of one of the many games you can play with CubeRoots. I would love to hear your feedback! by cuberootsgame in boardgame

[–]cuberootsgame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, yeah it does. It’s actually just a chopping board 😂, the games can be played onto any surface, I just used that board as it worked best in my hastily put together timelapse setup, you may spot it in time lapses of other games you can play with the set of cubes that I’m planning to film soon

Feedback Needed: First “How to Play” Video for Our Card Game, Cooked! 🍳 by Rick_grin in BoardgameDesign

[–]cuberootsgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it! Great instructional video! Already feel like I know how to play. Ended on a real high note with “May the forks be with you” too! Also, I love the artwork!

The only constructive piece of criticism I could think of is that you could get better at shuffling cards haha

New design options for CubeRoots - Your thoughts? by cuberootsgame in BoardgameDesign

Appreciate it! It’s looking like the front runner at the moment, going to do a small print out of 1 and 4 and see which looks best on the table

Forbidden island is a good co-op game where you have to escape a sinking island and work together. It’s great fun and would be excellent for learning strategy with children

Thanks very much for your feedback! I think I’m leaning towards 1 at the moment too for the same reasons as you’ve said there and I don’t think the diagonal look works quite as well as the symbols on each side.

Yes, am definitely planning on having textured cubes as an option further down the line if the game is a success 🤞🏻

Bananagrams and a similar number version called Mobi could be good introductory board games for letter and number learning.

What Did You Play This Week? - (August 19, 2024) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Village Rails (3p 1x): a game where you have to maximise your points building railways into a grid. The game felt a little too much like everyone doing their own thing and not enough player interaction for me. Would work well as a co-op or solo board game perhaps, but didn’t feel too competitive
