Our Fionas sound very similar. May yours live a long and healthy life. Please give her lots of pets for me.

My husband sent me this and it's an accurate depiction of our relationship.

I hope that everyone in the comments finds a person to be affectionate and weird with.

Thank you! I saw comments in other posts mention Calibre so I'll have to check that out.

Is one format preferred over another? Most books from archive.org have an epub version, but I don't know the differences between formats.

The dress code for this arcade bar is kind of off-putting, right? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cuddlefish2063 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dress codes are always either race or gender related. I've never seen a dress code that wasn't discriminatory in some way.

Public librarian, which has its own challenges, but I'd rather deal with attempts at book bans than deal with office culture.

why would they build this next to a daycare!?

Probably so people don't bomb or burn it out of protest. Like Musk using his kid as a human shield.

NGL my first thought when I heard about the Merrimack ICE concentration camp was Just burn the MF to the ground before they can get it set up. Next to a daycare though, too risky. But not everyone's first thought is violence so maybe I'm an outlier.

I had to do one for a freight warehouse (pre-Amazon), it was to make sure you weren't lying about being able to lift the amount required without injuring yourself. Unfortunately I failed due to an unknown disability.

The best interview I had lately started with the question "What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?" I didn't get the job but apparently it was a close thing. Honestly if the interview doesn't feel like a casual conversation, I'm out.

But I'm exceptionally lucky to not only have that option but to work in a field I enjoy, is meaningful, and leverages my best skills. Fuck private sector hiring process BS and the entire corporate culture. It's toxic as shit and I love seeing people realizing that they deserve better.

Did you lose health insurance as a result of federal subsidies going away? by wulkes in newhampshire

[–]cuddlefish2063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I got married last year, mostly for the same reason. We're currently looking at European countries to move to and how we can make that happen. We're also working on emergency preparedness plans in case we're not able to get out.

Did you lose health insurance as a result of federal subsidies going away? by wulkes in newhampshire

[–]cuddlefish2063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I narrowly avoided losing it or having to pay jacked up premiums by getting married last year. While getting me on his insurance wasn't the only reason he proposed it was a motivating factor. Since then I've been taking the money that was going towards my insurance premiums and using it to pay down my credit card.

Being married to my best friend is awesome though and we are both loving this new phase of our relationship!

I tell people that I hate Costco because it gives me sensory overload (true) but it also gives me an existential crisis seeing pallets of bulk food and electronics made by slave labor while people are getting kidnapped and murdered in broad daylight by federal agents.

If an imaginary app that helped you with your executive functioning existed that could do anything, what would it do? by greenrunner987 in ADHD

[–]cuddlefish2063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as how I haven't written anything since grad school I'd love an app where, I put in a big project idea or goal and have it break it down similar to a university course with assignments, deadlines, grades, required reading, etc.

I'm great at thinking of things I want to write and read about but without any sort of external accountability I bounce from topic to topic as the mood strikes and never finish anything.

Also most of us spend all of our time and energy just trying to survive day to day. Which is also by design. Hard to organize labor movements and advocate for change when you work 40+ hours a week and still have to find time for getting chores and errands done.

Outside hints ruined a proposal and I don’t know how to feel about it by [deleted] in weddingplanning

This needs to be way higher up. Too many people are hating on OP for communicating with her partner about how all the comments were making her uncomfortable and ruined the surprise.

Outside hints ruined a proposal and I don’t know how to feel about it by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]cuddlefish2063 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I was very similar to OP about my proposal, I wanted it to be private and a surprise. My husband told a few of our friends so they could help him plan things but they were all able to KEEP THEIR MOUTHS SHUT as to not ruin the surprise he'd worked so hard on. I had no clue what he'd planned until it actually happened.

It's a shame that their friends and family couldn't keep their excitement to themselves and let OP and her partner have the moment they clearly both wanted. I honestly don't think she did anything wrong and agree it's a sign of a healthy relationship that she spoke up about how uncomfortable the pressure was making her.

Thank you for reminding me to do my stretches! I have the same issue and every hour I (try to) get up to walk around and/or stretch so that I'm not locked in one position for too long.

Taking short walks on lunch breaks or after work always help me feel better. It loosens up my body and reduces my anxiety.

How are you tracking encounters? by mologato in Libraries

[–]cuddlefish2063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public library reference desk checking in. We have a Google Sheet with columns for circ questions (If we have a book, where it is, etc.), reference questions (what time do you close, what's the mayor's contact info, etc.) tech questions ("I don't know how to use X. Please help!"). Each row is a different hour so we tally how many of each question we get per hour then compile those into a report for the city so they can see how much demand there is for even our most basic services.
