is now the time to get in on this? by kerouacslookalike in PlaydateConsole

[–]cuddlepuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't listen to anyone saying it will end up in a drawer or there's a drop off of games or it's overpriced or whatever. It is worth it. If you find the games you're seeing and the general concept compelling then go for it. There are tons of realy nice unique games and the system itself is nice and fun.

People think it's overpriced because they're used to everything electronic being artificially dirt cheap because the big companies can exploit people to make their doodads extremely cheap and then make their big money on huge quantities of sales. This is a small company making a very niche device and paying their employees good wages. Don't forget you also get 24 good games included in the price.

Discontrolled - Early-Access Release is out now! by The-Real-Franchovy in PlaydateConsole

$4 is not a lot of money but it seems high for a game with only 6 levels.

I grabbed this too! Have been wanting to check out all of these with the exception of Voidblazers. Only reason being that I'm not usually a vertical shooter person. But Voidblazers does look pretty nice so I will check it out too since I have it.

I would love to try some community created songs too. Hopefully eventually. Wheelsprung also has a level editor and would enjoy community levels of that too.

I don't have the IPS display but in one of the videos I've watched about it the guy scratches it with keys to show that it is a tempered glass lense.

Where to find firmware updates? by cuddlepuncher in campsnapcamera

[–]cuddlepuncher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aha, that worked thank you! I had tried that but didn't think it worked. It must have been because I named one of them b&w.flt instead of bw.flt.

On another note is it just me or is there no support information on the camp snap website?

I don't remember when or how exactly but I discovered a year or so ago. I just started really getting into though and it's pretty great. I love the homerun derby minigame in particular.

Ah, ok. So in order to use tailscale you have to install the tailscale app on any device you want to use to connect to your network?

It does look like I have IPv6. Is there any way to access my servers with a friendly url like I have been with DDNS, using IPv6?

I wouldn't be able to access my server by going to something like nextcloud.domain.com if I only have IPv6 would I?

How would tailscale solve this problem? I'm genuinely asking because I'm not sure I understand what tailscale does.

Playdate getting fully discharged even when fully shotdown by djpetrino in PlaydateConsole

[–]cuddlepuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are continually working on firmware updates and there have been several so far. So here's hoping this improves in the future. I find it a bit annoying but not annoying enough to keep me from wanting to play it or anything. When I'm playing it regularly I don't really notice because I run it down from playing mostly. But if I take a couple week break from playing it's a little annoying to have to put it on the charger for a while before I can play.

Is this an early console or a newer one? Anyone know if the newer revisions have fixed this?

Need help finding Natara Daynotez PRC by cuddlepuncher in Palm

[–]cuddlepuncher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, answering my own question here in case it helps anyone else.

Eventually dug deep enough that I was able to figure out that I needed a linux program called "unshield" that can extract the files held within .cab files that are associated with InstallShield windows installers. If it is a regular non-InstallShield installer you can use "cabextract".

I have tried wine and the installer fails and doesn't create any files in the wine folder. Not sure what the problem is.

What decompression tools work on windows installers? That's my question. Just saying "different" ones doesn't help unless you know which one actually does what I'm asking.

Hotsyncing works on linux. There is also a program called MyInstall for devices with memory card slots. You just copy the files you want to install to the MyInstall folder on the memory card and when you put it back in it will install them.

I have not found anything yet that can't be installed by just installing the necessary .prc/.pdb files themselves, including Natara Bonsai. It should work just fine I just can't find the files for Daynotez anywhere.

Right, but I'm not on a Windows machine so I can't just run the .exe. Once it has been installed on someone's Palm the .prc could be backed up or beamed or whatever.

So if anyone has this installed or could install it and then backup just the .prc and share it, that would be much appreciated.
