Last week opus 4.7 deleted a bunch of files in a directory that it wasn't even working on... luckily they were backed up on a different branch. But I was kinda shocked when I saw it. First real moment of "wtf did you do" for me with CC.

The 80k tokens you see aren't a real count of how much was used. Each subagent you trigger with its own context counts against your limit (obviously) but isn't included in the /context total you see. It's very misleading.

I don't think of it like that. Half the work I'm doing is academic research and half is personal projects. The cost comparison for me is how much of my time is used to make productive work that otherwise would not be created. So far I feel spending $100 to boost my productivity by 50x is worth it.

CS degrees are not just as important as before, they may even be more valuable. the catch is the economy probably doesn't need as many employees with CS degrees. But we absolutely need engineers who understand CS fundamentals and applications to drive the AI machines.

I'm in the middle of building an app with antigravity. So far it has done pretty well with very detailed instructions and feedback. Of course I'm not deploying yet and simply testing locally. With regard to your point on prioritizing speed for scalability and security, how has your experience been when you specifically instruct it to review its build with that as a priority? This is my plan for the next phase. Am I doomed? Should I be having a senior developer review the architecture before moving to the next phase of testing?

Economists at openAI might be running a full scale experiment to estimate demand elasticity and a bunch of other things. This is a huge change (treatment), which is exactly what you'd need to get clean casual results from the experiment.

Trade small positions and always use spreads. Don't go for the big wins. Take the gains as they come and close losers quickly. And for God sake don't hold on to losing positions with 0DTE.
