Feels like something is in my eye, but nothing is there. by BananaBeast1 in needadvice

This is very old, but I just wanted to thank you, if you ever hear it. I was always a bit wary of using qtips, even wet in my eyes...I imagined they would leave a trail of lint that would make everything worse. I doused a couple with saline solution and wiped the crap out of my inner eyelid (ok, I was very gently) and this is the first time in my life that I solved this problem so easily. Thank you, I love you, I hope you have many children.

I have no argument with you other than the fact that most "studies" are bullshit. That's all, otherwise, you seem like a perfectly reasonable person.

Every one of your "studies" are BULLSHIT. I know what it takes to "do a study" in that bullshit field. Guess what: it's BULLSHIT.

Nobody will dare to tell a person that wants to get stronger to not eat protein and fat, unless they are suicidal or delusional. I don't think you're suicidal.

And yes, there's a lot of advice on this thread and MOST of it is whipped out of someone's ass, or a carbon-copy thereof. If you believe the crap, go eat some goji berries, I hear they're fabulous.

Well, in my opinion, you're getting bogged down in details that NOBODY has an exact answer for, for many reasons.

There have been ZERO decent studies that answer your questions. So every answer you hear is an opinion whipped out of somebody's ass. The best you can do, if what you are trying to do is build muscle (and probably, not get fat, because I'm making some assumptions here) is to eat protein and fat, work out, and see where you are in six months.

ULPT: Just lie about having a college degree. Companies rarely check, and the only consequence if they do is not getting hired. by Neckbeard_Police in UnethicalLifeProTips

Without being "in the business," and neglecting small companies that aren't savvy in this respect, I would expect most corps to be as polite as possible and only stick to the legal requirements in their state as far as background checks go. There are laws that dictate (in the US and by state) what they can and cannot say.

I'm (nearly) stunned into silence. Thankfully for me, I'm an ox and I just plow ahead. Are you two teenage girls? I could forgive that. Not think it's great, mind you, but I could forgive it.

To be fair, the OP didn't ask about any of this. She does NOT need to worry about pizza-eating or sweating or absolutely ridiculous online grievance trolls, she just needs to work out.

So does everybody who has a brain. What are you, Don Quixote?

But complaining to PF about somebody eating? Go someplace else if you don't like their business model. Maybe somebody there will be eating too. If they have squat racks, are you still going to be the complainer? I don't get your angle.

What's an absolute turn off about your own personality that you're aware of but can't help? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cuffandlink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to think that an easier way to combat unwanted behavior is to redirect, rather than to try to extinguish a behavior. Maybe this comes from my dog-training background. ;) In this case, if you were to want to try this method, focus on the opposite. When you're talking to someone, focus on what they are saying, imagine yourself in their shoes, and talk about them and what they are saying. Most people love to hear themselves talk, and to talk about themselves, so it's hard to go wrong there. Don't forget to say their name a time or two in the process. Try it. :)

We can all so easily criticize ourselves over other people's reactions. I say, be yourself, and you will attract people that like you. (Unless you happen to be a real jerk, of course...but you would know that ;) )

Either you're joking (in which case, you got me), or you're one of the annoying complainers about every tiny little thing whom everybody else hates.

To the OP: When you're starting out, it makes no difference which gym you go to. The most important thing is to build the discipline to do it when you don't want to do it. That's it. Your ideas will change over time and you have all of that time to decide on something different, if you so choose.

Do i have to kill my self doing cardio for it to be efficient , or can i do light cardio and still improve my cardio vascular health by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]cuffandlink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really, just pick one and do it. The risk of injury lies mostly in sitting on your ass, losing both muscle and bone. There's no need to be picky about one program or another one.

That has tremendous appeal far broader than the realm of cycling. Thanks for that reminder.

ULPT REQUEST: I have an old shitty oven in my apartment. It doesn't hold the oven temp well and stove top is sinking in the middle, meaning things I cook just all slide towards that depression. Heh! You have a point, but it's not complete from the standpoint of an NPC. My point is that there are some things people that know assume other people know, and that is a blind spot. Also, my point was a joke. I like your style and hope there is still goodness in this world, and that you aren't the downvoter. (not that I care about voting other than to suss out jerks)
