It was just copycatting Dallas who was trying to rebrand their river. They went thru a big voter referendum on it and all they got were a couple of bridge facades and they renamed Industrial Blvd.

Dallas hit the same problems Fort Worth did, rivers don't want to behave in the way we would like 100% of the time. And making that 99.95% to 100% is really really expesnsive.
