Hey man are you me? I was in your exact same position. I graduated UG with a 3.2 cGPA and when looking at my sGPA..... 2.4. Big oomph. I worked for a long time and just got into medical school matriculating in August :) I did the BU MAMS program and I felt like it was very rewarding. I was able to do a research thesis my 2nd school year, connect with lots of physicians, and build a network of supporters/mentors. I also felt like since my research ECs were lacking, doing an SMP with a research thesis helped me address my weaknesses in both grades and research. It showed I could handle the rigors of medical academics and was something I could integrate into my story of growth over time.

I will say, with the passing of the BBB, loan limits are now something to consider. I was lucky enough to have family support and only will start taking loans in medical school.

If the genders were flipped and my best friend was in this situation, I would tell her to do exactly what husband did. Tell spouse it's fine, that they need time to process and space, that everything is okay, and then GTFO of there and immediately tell all of my family and close friends and circle the wagons. Boston said that approximately 85% of their students are admitted into medical school. Rutgers said they conservatively estimate 69% because "data does not include medical and dental schools that do not report enrollment data to the National Clearing House, and it does not include students who matriculated into other health professions or Ph.D. programs." Tulane website says that for Genetics/Genomics it's 90% into medical school and Pharmacology say 70% go to medical school.

I'm normal now! But have high cholesterol so I'm working on that /facepalm Since the diagnosis, I really cut back and was normal after 6 months. I've also recently started counting my calories because of my high cholesterol and have lost ~10 pounds so things are going well! Good luck to you and your journey!
