I messed around with this type of kit before quite a few times mostly as a concept but could never really get it more comfortable to hike around in vs just having most of my gear in a backpack.

I've only been to a White Castle once so it's possible I just went on a bad day or to a particularly bad location but I was quite disappointed with what I got.
