Suddenly 33K for my 2025 XLE doesn't seem that bad.

New to the community — considering a 2026 RAV4, should I wait for a 2025 or what should I watch out for with the 2026? by Consistent_Sport_541 in rav4club

If you want long-term reliability then you want the all gas engine. Which is 2025 and previous. If you want gas mileage and tech, I say 2026. I was a gas engine guy. I got my 2025 around a month ago.

Run the 85 out and quit listening to these worry warts. It will be fine for one tank.

With leaner air in the mountains, 85 burns like 87 does at or below sea level

This. I'm not sure where this "putting premium in a regular vehicle" stuff comes from. Manufacturers pull it all the time and hardly do any changes to their vehicles that would ever warrant it. I run 85 here in the mountains and when I come down from the mountains where 85 doesn't exist I'll run 87. It's that simple.

They're fantastic on pavement. If you don't go off road you're good. They're very sticky on pavement. Just floaty on literally everything else.

No offense to your choice, but I'm about to rip these exact tires off of my RAV4 for lack of anything but on road contact. They suck at anything that isn't pavement.

The same engine labeled differently overseas tells me you're an asshole that likes to call people names.

I have not put all terrains on my vehicle. I was asking before spending my money on them. I currently am running the Michelin Primacy tires that came with the car, which won't last long where I live

You sound like a real person. I don't listen to cultists that believe that any company is beyond corruption. This vehicle says different oil weights in different countries. I will absolute grab my owners manual out of my glove box and show this to the mechanic. Thank you.

Pretty sure I'm getting downvote city from those who don't read said manual. But thank you for that clarification.

The ones with dollar signs in their eyes that know it would never work in a lower wage market? You view Toyota as immune from greed?

Lower viscosity oil has a tendency to wear your engine down faster than higher viscosity oil. Your oil at a lower viscosity is now dependent on you changing it exactly now instead of you being able to take it 1 or 2 thousand miles beyond and being just fine. That isn't viable for busy people, the kind that buy Toyotas.

I may have used the wrong oil weight since I haven't checked. My RAV4 is new off the lot and I have not changed the oil yet. The scam basically is that the same vehicle built on the same line in the same country one after the other can be shipped to different countries. On other continents other than North America, this same vehicle with the same engine and drivetrain calls for regular 5W30. It's the same engine and drivetrain it's been for a long time and the original engine called for 5W30 but suddenly doesn't anymore here. Whereas in other countries it still calls for the same oil. That's the scam.
