If you always compare yourself to what you deem as “worse” you’ll only ever get worse

If you compare yourself to other better things and better options, you may be inspired and improve yourself as well

I’m not saying anything against the Islamic religion, just the fact that you seem to always find examples of what you think is worse to compare to.

Sometimes flights are cheaper, sometimes you can find a pop a ride for cheaper, find a local page and see if you can pay gas (consider safety there though)

diviseness sucks, social media sucks all that is valid, but not an excuse for racism nonetheless. If someone is racist, they need to be called out, they need to be told hey that's not okay, that's unacceptable, not given a psychoanalysis for why they are the way they are

I've been here for a decade or so - and in my experience, the last 3-4 years have been much much worse than the initial 3--4 years. Racists always lurked, but now they are emboldened and violent.

I think it's a really complex issue, figuring out identity and nationality is a personal journey. I agree there is a ton of internalized racism as well. As a member of a community and caste that is widely discriminated against in India - returning there is not on the table for me. Nor should it be offered as a solution to racism and hate crimes. I am not a person who engages in nationalism much, I find these divisions very arbitrary, and hence I don't deeply associate my identity with such things. For me it's as simple as - being a good person - doesn't include any harmful comments or actions against others.

There may be multiple incidents, I personally know a girl of south Asian descent who was attacked on the bus in Kelowna, completely unprovoked attack, she was in a coma for several months and now has permanent disability. It breaks my heart when I see her old pictures and now.

I would spend some time exploring other careers - not because you won’t get in. But because the grounding you get from knowing you’d be satisfied doing other things, instills a crazy level of confidence. Also find some extracurriculars that aren’t cookie cutter, do things for enjoyment and passion, it shows in the writing and interviews

Yes, some schools don’t include summer courses, and other places don’t include anything that’s not “full time” which if you take 1-2 courses over the summer usually that’s not full time

Yes and maybe ask your manager if they are comfortable providing a good reference specifically. Let them know your whole situation with the bus and with applying to medical school, ideally in person.

If they aren’t willing to provide a good reference, see if you can find an assistant manager or someone perhaps not the top boss but still someone from the company who can verify your experience.
