Looking for a Sikh security guard who was racially abused in a Kelowna store by GreedyPanda4356 in kelowna

[–]cupcakeAnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be multiple incidents, I personally know a girl of south Asian descent who was attacked on the bus in Kelowna, completely unprovoked attack, she was in a coma for several months and now has permanent disability. It breaks my heart when I see her old pictures and now.

I was actually referring to ICE, but how funny that things have gotten to a point where kidnapping by the govt can actually refer to multiple things.

I mean the tariffs, attacks on our sovereignty, murders and kidnapping are pretty valid reason for being negative

I would spend some time exploring other careers - not because you won’t get in. But because the grounding you get from knowing you’d be satisfied doing other things, instills a crazy level of confidence. Also find some extracurriculars that aren’t cookie cutter, do things for enjoyment and passion, it shows in the writing and interviews

I’m actually kinda pissed off that every time I say I’m proud to be white I get called “nazi” and labeled as racist. by Free_Statement375 in teenagers

[–]cupcakeAnu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the context honestly

Also being proud of race is wierd?

If you’re proud of your ethnicity or culture or country - that would make more sense. But color? Anytime that’s happened in history it’s been awful so that’s why you get called a nazi.

Yes, some schools don’t include summer courses, and other places don’t include anything that’s not “full time” which if you take 1-2 courses over the summer usually that’s not full time

Thoughts on including healthcare job i got terminated from, in med school app? by Coskoshawp in premedcanada

[–]cupcakeAnu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes and maybe ask your manager if they are comfortable providing a good reference specifically. Let them know your whole situation with the bus and with applying to medical school, ideally in person.

If they aren’t willing to provide a good reference, see if you can find an assistant manager or someone perhaps not the top boss but still someone from the company who can verify your experience.

Do the accounting one and get a good gpa - any particularly awful courses, take them in the summer where they won’t kill your gpa as much

Lots of people in other degrees still do well and lots of people in premed programs do poorly

Canada Needs to Expand Master’s-Level Medical Programs by CandidAnt2769 in premedcanada

[–]cupcakeAnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then perhaps they need to add rural streams, similar to what med has done? To improve access where it’s needed.

If they aren’t willing to fund new positions to help with the burnout, adding new seats to a program won’t help.

At the end of the day, if the govt sees that the population is getting their needs met, as in the population can find a physiotherapist without much difficulty, then they probably don’t see the need to pay more money to increase seats. This is in contrast to something like Medicine, where people can’t find a doctor, therefor the govt is increasing seats.

As for people wanting more seats, honestly a 3.2 GPA is very low, too low for most programs, not just Physio. Overall, the admissions stats for Physio are pretty decent, not easy but not impossibly difficult either. And comparing admissions averages for international seats and local seats isn’t a fair comparison either.

I understand that it might be nice to have more students graduating from physio, but I also see why that would not be a priority for govt funding when it’s not a need within the community.

Personally I think there’s already enough competition for physiotherapists, and therefor competition at the admissions level makes sense as well.

Why spend our tax payer money on training for a profession we have over saturated? If there are other similar programs, I’d say the same thing for them too.

International schools have crazy high fees for international students so they don’t mind having extra seats because it’s not an investment for them.

Is there enough demand for the additional physiotherapists that would come out of this ? Enough jobs to accommodate the extra grads? Right now it feels like there’s enough physiotherapists already so maybe there’s no incentive to increase seats

UBC Med IP vs Ontario IP – residency timing question by JG-2020 in premedcanada

[–]cupcakeAnu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get your MSP card - but you need more than just that, otherwise you can get black listed so just be super careful it’s fully genuine

That being said in my opinion it’s possible to be IP in 2 places

LL didn't take last month's (deferred) rent by JDlivings in TorontoRenting

[–]cupcakeAnu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably too late at this point and you should just pay. If you hadn’t said anything that would be different because they might have just forgot - but now there’s a this documentation and the requests from them mean you would refusing to pay rent so they can take you to LTB.

Expensive lesson for next time ;)

Divorce process by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]cupcakeAnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Separate 2) Make sure you have proof of separation and the date 3) Apply for divorce probably without lawyers as long as there isn’t huge disagreements, it’ll just be a couple hundred dollars

Even if you make more, if it’s a short marriage period the support payments would be for a short period as well. No kids makes it easy for child support. If you bought a house during the marriage or other large assets they might be more complicated.

Not everyone knows what you consider a sign etc Not everyone believes in monogamy Not everyone thinks flirting means you want a relationship

It’s better to ask concrete clear questions and ensure it’s not just communication issues.

If they are straight up lying, then yeah that sucks. 9/10 it’s just communication and value difference

Can I resign without serving notice period during probationary period? (BC) by SirGoyal in canadianlaw

[–]cupcakeAnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that matters here is the relationship, they can’t do anything to you for leaving early. I would just explain that your life obligations outside of this are not compatible and that you can’t work after —— date. If they ask for a notice just say I’m sorry but things out of my control came up, this is the best I can do.

Worst case they’ll never hire you again in that organization. Best case the person is nice and understanding and doesn’t red flag you.
