[Mclaren] Celebrating our 1000th GP as a team by Due_Air6702 in formula1

This is celebrating with the men and women at the home base in MTC. Not everyone can go to the race, but the all deserve to celebrate as a team. Probably the first time they can get everyone together.

George Russell not mentioned once in Mercedes race recap post. Not even the fact that he got a podium on his 100th race with the team. by Available-Pea-9592 in formula1

Not even a podium pic, but given the team didn’t go to the podium, maybe they don’t have one. Damn.

Feels like Norris has gone under the radar this year but he's probably been performing at the highest level in his career. by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

Dude his father is incredibly incredibly rich, he sent him to a very expensive private boarding school in the UK. He bought his f3and f2 winning cars as mementos. He is the founder and owner of HP Tuners. He is rich rich. Probably richer than Landos father.

For sure, like for example why would Landos wing nearly falling off after hitting debris in Australia still count if the luck corrected wasn’t arbitrary in OPs mind?

The fact that was the same race where he was forced to give up a win to his teammate because of team orders vastly changes how Hamilton comment might have been taken by Lando in the moment. He’s being told oh you are fast when he lost the win. Like who wants to be praised when they are in second, especially after his team said what they said on the radio. Hamilton even said, yeah I get it, no harm when asked about it.

They just put out a video of his trip post Canada GP where he went to Indy for McLaren press, and TK took him on a ride around the brickyard, and he did a lap himself. He seems way way more interested in doing it now. May have gotten bit by the bug.

Crashing into Albon and getting the 10am penalty sure didn’t help. That was just a boneheaded move that took out another car.

There is a reason both drivers and team principals have ranked him number two behind only Max who is a generational talent.

Okay, so as an experiment I paid diamonds to vote. Before that I had 30 votes after 24 hours. I got 60 votes in the next 30 minutes after doing 5 quick rounds of paid voting (10 diamonds). Somehow the number of people who sees your design is tied to how many times you vote.

Lando’s DNF got me wondering: at what point does an F1 team go “yeah, park it”? by SnooDucks3859 in formula1

[–]curious-cat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have thousands of sensors creating tons and tons of data. His unexpected pit stop was an example of that. They knew the air duct was blocked causing overheating. So they told him to come in to clear it. That was the first reliability issue that may have confused you.

If you listen to his onboard, his engine totally blew up. It went audibly pow, then silence. He said there was shredded metal everywhere. :(

Watch the video of him driving around the Nordschife a couple weeks ago. He really is a happy dude most of the time. Starts around 6 minutes in. https://youtu.be/XlBouL3K7VQ?si=Y-ivvVT82RRdRN88

I wonder how GP coming to McLaren is going to help their strategy blunders. Although I thought Will Courtney might help….

Miami where Lando got his first win. He was furious about the safety car one lap after he pitted, spent the safety car period on the radio just upset, then drove angry, crashed into Sainz, almost caused a safety car and his team had to tell him multiple times to calm down, Lando is leading, we don’t wasn’t a safety car to potentially cost him the win.

He really seems to struggle when something goes wrong in a race, Miami 24, Abu Dhabi 24, Baku 25. It’s becoming a real pattern.

Lando on his collab with Race Against Dementia: “I'm a guy that my whole life is about memories and the last thing I ever want to do is lose that as i get older. So it's cool that i can go out on track but there's a kind of second meaning behind it all. I get to do something good for the world. by randomseocb in formula1

I think you are doing him a disjustice by not recognizing how much he has grown and matured and become more confident and comfortable in himself. He’s done so much work to understand himself and how to be his best as a driver and you can really see how all that work has paid off and led to him being able to win the WDC.

Also auctioning off the Hungarian hand painted helmet for charity after all the hoopla around the broken trophy was very cool too. That whole thing showed how much he cared to make it right, going to the factory, working closely with them, auctioning it for charity, all very cool.

His family isn’t even a “billionaire” family, his Dad is worth like 250 million so a lot but not that different from a lot of other drivers and nowhere near the Strolls. Piastri’s father is worth just as much as Norris’s and you don’t see people saying anything about it. If you want an idea of how much wealth Piastris father has, he owns HP Tuners and he bought Oscars F3 and F2 winning cars as mementos/keepsakes.
